Seriously the best baby gate! Supper easy to install, and use, and it looks very nice and evern when notnin use. We use this gate to keep our very busy 1 year old out of the kitchen. We have an open floor plan the space between our living room and kitchen is larger then most doorways, this gate fit the bill perfectly. Its sturdy enough to were my son can lean and pull on it, and it doesn't move much. I was a little concerned that he might be able to slide under the gate, but as long as you put the lock on that's not possible. I really like that it comes with extra mounting hardwear, we put an extra set of mounts down in our basement so we can put the gate down there and keep our baby off the stairs. The gate detaches simply with a push of a button and slides right back into the wallmounts, very convenient. We're thinking about ording another one to use outside on our back deck. It also works well for our dogs as well, win win lol

Received this and installed today. I am unclear if two sets of mounts and two sets of hooks are to be included but my ordered had them. This worked out perfectly because if I was happy with the product, I had intended to ask for a second set of hooks as I planned to set this up to be used in two different positions (see pics) Before ordering, I measured both openings. This unit extends more than necessary, but the next smallest size was too short. I was happy to discover mounting hole templates are included for both the gate side and the catch side! I attached to the wall using blue painters tape, checked for plumb, used a punch to mark the holes and removed the templates. The positions where the gate and catches are mounted had studs so I was able to drive the screws in securely. The shorter screws were not long enough and if using the included spacers for the top mounts, they are definitely too short. Therefore, the installation, including one set of gate mounts and two sets of catch hooks, required that I used some longer screws from my bins in the garage. It may be OK to use the shorter screws with the included mollies but I would not recommend this considering this is a safety device. A secure installation is critical. Very happy with ease of installation and ease of one-handed use! The unit seems stable and robust enough to handle the task. Will update if anything changes.

Overall it does the job for a medium size dog. It's important to not the gap on the latching side would allow smaller dogs through. It's not as taut towards the bottom as it is on top. I installed mine in the doorway... I might remove and install it outside to stretch it and cover the gap. My dogs are staying out of the living room for now... but I can see them destroying this or even slipping in from underneath or through the gap. Also. A screw head broke when installing. I'll go buy some better screws to hold it in place better. Overall it's alright for the price.

Product was a breeze to install and despite some reviews about it being difficult to operate, I found the mechanism and movement to be very fluid. I think those people may have installed the product wrong. If I had to find something to nag about, it would be the "lock" button. It is pretty easily knocked from the unlocked position to the locked position. It seems to be kind of spring loaded...but it does not unlock easily in the same fashion. So I'm perfectly happy with and would rather it "accidentally lock" than to have it "accidentally unlock". It may mention this in the description and I just overlooked it but I was surprised to find multiple mounting brackets meaning I could install the mounting hardware in multiple locations in my home and move the gate easily as needed. I was super stoked once I figured this out. I ordered grey because most of my house trim is black but I do have one room that is white and when the gate is not in use in that room the black hardware stands out like a sore thumb. I reached out to customer service to see if I could purchase separate hardware in white and they insisted on sending me the parts for free. I explained to them that I wasn't shorted or sent the wrong color...in fact everything was perfect and I was totally down to pay for the additional parts but they wouldn't have it. I'm sure it's nothing to them but it made quite the impression on me. Great product and even better customer service!!!

We're a family with 4 kids, dogs, and cats, these gates are used multiple times a day and are still holding up. Out of the 4 gates we have, this one is by far the worst off, mostly from when the animals have attempted to jump over them, or the big kids try to step/climb over them, and it's causing the gate to slowly rip out, but it's still just as effective at closing off the stairs. As you can see we had to build a box around the railing of the stairs in order to install it, but it was very simple to do, and has held up wonderfully since. You will have to open/close the gates for everyone though, even people who regularly come to our house are baffled by it and unable to get by. As an added feature if someone uses it incorrectly, it makes a very loud ratcheting sound that we call the mischief alarm.
