Very interesting and also frustrating
An extensively researched account of how this country’s development and history are often the result of not much more than big corporations’ efforts at making even more money

Not a in depth study of the company's projects.
Although this book gives pretty good insights into the history of Bechtel Corporation and the Bechtel family, it does not lay enough emphasis on some of the important projects that the company has or had undertaken

Info. on some 'movers and shakers'.
In the first paragraph of Chap.10 the author quotes the famous lines from Eisenhower's address, "Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry ..." and " ... the huge industrial and military machinery ..."The quote is fitting as she goes a long way to shed light on the topic. Specifically "Bechtel" and numerous nationally recognized big players.

An interesting insight into an unusual company.
There is plenty of space given to Bechtel's controversial and secretive activities which I found very interesting, but it may have given the book a little more balance if some of their achievements had received more recognition. There was surprisingly minimal technical content for a book about an Engineering company. Did I enjoy reading it, yes. I'd recommend it to anyone involved in the industry.
