Incredibly versatile laptop for both typing and inking
I recently purchased the Surface Laptop Studio and overall I’m impressed. The design is striking: the hinge is smooth and the pulling-forward screen adds real versatility. Performance is strong. Apps load quickly and multitasking feels fluid thanks to Windows 11. The display is vivid and responsive, especially when using the stylus. Battery life is reasonable but not exceptional under heavy use. Build quality feels premium, and the keyboard is comfortable for extended typing. There are occasional heat and fan noise during intensive loads, but nothing overly intrusive. It’s a smart choice if you want flexibility and performance in one machine.

Great laptop, heavy though!
Really nice laptop. Fantastic screen, very fast and powerful enough to run things like solidworks or video editing software. No problem playing games either, Civ 6 I can have the graphics on full easily (although you'll need to be plugged in if you want to play for more than 30 mins like this). Only downsides are: Occasionally when you're plugged in it doesn't charge - you have to keep messing about plugging and unplugging and then it finally recognises its plugged and starts charging. Still unsure the cause. Occasionally I've had an issue where it doesn't want to switch on, again no idea why. Just keep trying and it comes back. Seems to be related to the above issue too. Seems the USB C ports can't be used for charging, only the proprietary cable, which is a big shame. My particular unit I got from Amazon Warehouse, which was described as cosmetically damaged. There was only a small dint for a massive discount so I was extremely happy - I've found however that the headphone jack doesn't work. Becuase I got such a huge discount I didn't dispute this with amazon, but beware if you do the same.

"Brand New" Laptop arrived with previous password protected account logged in
Ordered brand new (not refurbished etc), arrived in full new packaging but when we turned this laptop on, there was a previous user logged in to the device on a password protected account. We were completely unable to log this previous user out, reset the password, or create an account of our own. Microsoft are impossible to contact directly (only a virtual AI chatbot and a robot phone line both of which exclusively direct you to their FAQ database and nothing else -- surprisingly enough, they don't have a section covering how to delete someone else's account). Amazon were only able to offer a refund upon return of the item -- no replacement, no technical support, just wait a month for your £1500 to come back to you. I'm sure the laptop itself is fine, but careful buying a 'brand new' laptop from Microsoft. Even if it was refurbished, should have been factory reset but appalled with how they could even get around to boxing up and selling a laptop with the previous user fully logged in let alone their non-existent customer service.

Top Quality
A beautiful, fast and functional quality piece of kit. The screen is wonderful, great resolution and very bright. The keyboard and touch pad a joy to use. Great battery life. very good sound quality. The build quality is exception and the two in one concept is genius. So those are my likes. There isn't really much to dislike, but there could be an improvement in increasing the number of ports. 2no. USB-C's is in my opinion 1 no. light. There should be at least 3 no. It is also quite expensive, but the quality justifies the price. But for me these are very minor quibbles, and this is a solid 5-star laptop.

nice one Microsoft
Honestly i've been looking for one of these for a while but i have never liked the idea that other manufacturers go for with flipping the screen over the back. Why would i want to be pressing the keyboard into my knees or a desk? Anyway this is definitely the way to go for these 2-in-1 devices at least in my mind. It's quite pricey, but if you equate it to a macbook with a touchscreen then honestly the price is fair enough. That's clearly the market the Surface laptops generally are aiming for and in terms of build quality it hits the mark. Great keyboard (backlit), great trackpad with haptic click, the touchscreen works well and it's whisper quiet when not doing anything particularly heavy. It does warm up a bit but that's mainly noticeable because the fan outlets are in the bottom left and right sides which does seem like a dumb decision tbh. The only major downside is the connectivity which is two USB-c ports and a headphone jack. The proprietary 'Surface connector' port can be hooked up to a dock (and at £250 you might want to stay away from that thing unless you're a power user who needs super high speed ethernet and display ports - i ended up buying the previous model which works fine for my needs), but the charger it comes with does have a built in USB-A socket for charging something else (power delivery only though, no data transfer).

Amazing laptop
Amazing laptop, also bought the surface pen 2. It’s works brilliantly and the screen is bright and clear. I’d definitely recommend this laptop. I bought this laptop but I I regret buying the i5 model with intel graphics so if you game definitely buy the i7 model with Nvidia graphics as the screen is beautiful. The cooling underneath I’m a big fan of as well - no pun intended.

Love this laptop
I bought this to cover a few bases, firstly I wanted handwriting recognition, then the ability to run VMs. As a Mac fan I have to say the user experience is great, I’m growing to like windows 11. The pen is fab, even with my most scribbled notes. I’m using WSL2 not VMware and that’s very good too.

Regardless of some bad comments. This computer saved my life. Superior performance and quality. Elegant. It replaces my other old 3 PCs. It just needs more monitors and at the end, you will get a full studio. I am a software engineer. Mostly, using it for development. Suitable to work at office, home, or on travel. The price is high, but it deserves it.
