Rooster's Night Out (Story Cove) Paperback – April 17, 2007

A Puerto Rican folktale about a rooster that is going to a bird party, but accidently gets tomato juice on his feathers on the way there. Trying his best to get cleaned up, nobody will help him clean off his feathers! Until he asks the sun, who basically retaliates against the chain of animals and objects that didn't help him clean off his dirty feathers in the first place.In return for the sun's help, rooster wakes up the sun every morning by saying "cock-a-doodle-doo"!Its a cute way to explain the rooster "waking-up" the sun, but with my preschoolers I had to answer way too many questions about why the rooster was threatening the animals and things that would not help him get clean! I didn't like the "get back at you" message for small children...Maybe better for elementary school aged kids who would get the references better than preschoolers.
