Fixed my dog's toxic breath!
Often, when reviewing nutritional items for my pets, I can only talk about the ingredients and what benefit I know the ingredients have; I don't often expect or see drastic changes since I already have my dogs on a very high-quality diet (Acana) and supplement them with fish oils (for healthy skin/coat) and glucosamine and chondroitin (for healthy bones/joints). So generally, when I try a new type of item, a new brand, flavor, etc., I expect for things to maintain or get a little better, but I don't expect to have a lot to rave about beyond "it's kept doing what it should."However, with these probiotics, I actually have something to concretely rave about! First off, I have three elderly rescue dogs - one German Shepherd/border collie mix, one Jindo/German Shepherd/hound mix, and one rottweiler/pibble/hound mix. Two of them are going on 11 years old in November, and the third is anywhere between 9-12 years old. Their health is incredibly important to me, and I will never settle for less than the best when it comes to their nutrition, supplements, and care. One of my dogs (the rottweiler/pibble/hound mix) has been in good health, had a great diet since she came to live with us two years ago, and her teeth are in good condition. However, her breath has always been AWFUL. I mean shrivel the hair off of your arms and make you gag awful. So bad, her breath made us gag even when her mouth was CLOSED. Our vet checked her teeth and general health and said everything looked fine, that some dogs just have horrible breath originating in their stomach/digestive tract. He didn't propose any real solutions, just kind of considered it a fact of life that some dogs and cats have this problem.Well, I finally heard through the grapevine about probiotics potentially being able to help this sort of issue. I figured it never hurts to try, and at the very least, our pups would be able to replace their healthy gut flora after the numerous illnesses and antibiotics they've had over the years. I didn't expect to notice any drastic difference, but figured it would be worth supplementing with probiotics just to know I was doing what I could to keep them healthy on the inside.I don't expect this result to be typical for every problem across the board, but my dog that had the drop-you-dead bad breath? Last night, after about a week of serving her probiotics with her meals, she came up and panted in my face while I was lying on the couch. I gave her love and sent her on her way, then stopped in my tracks. I realized I hadn't recoiled in horror from her breath. I hadn't even NOTICED her breath at all, aside from the fact that I could hear it and feel it. Stunned, but skeptical, I called her back over to me and took a big breath. Nothing. I got her all playful so she'd open her mouth and pant again, giving me a chance to get a full face of her formerly-foul stench. Still no smell. I couldn't believe it. I STILL can't believe it. So I called my partner over, thinking I must just not be in my right senses. I sometimes don't notice smells as much as he does, so I figured he would surely smell the usual stench and tell me I was out of my mind."Let Emma pant in your face." Okay, maybe I could have phrased it better. He looked at me like I was crazy. "Seriously," I assured him, "It's not a cruel joke. I need you to see if her breath is still toxic because...I might be crazy, but I am not smelling a THING." He looked at me dubiously and cautiously, slowly, and carefully put his nose next to our dog's closed mouth, expecting the usual horror. His eyes widened as he realized he couldn't smell anything. Relieved that he was experiencing the same thing I was, I repeated my earlier test of getting her to open-mouthed breath. He looked astonished, but confirmed that I wasn't just suddenly really bad at smelling things. Her breath was actually not in any way objectionable. We're both still completely flabbergasted, but holy moly. In this case, at least, these probiotics did far more than I ever expected or could have hoped. Seriously, miracles have been at work here! XDOkay, now down to the nitty gritty. This probiotic is a powder, and comes with a very small serving scoop. For the size of my dogs, I give them one scoop per day, per dog. After measuring out their food and drizzling their fish oil on top of the food, I sprinkle the probiotics over the top, then release them to eat. They gobble it all up together and lick their bowls clean! For how small the scoop is and how much powder comes in the container, I imagine this will give me about 120 servings total (the label says "up to 240" servings, so I imagine that's for the smallest dose, which is half a scoop). For three medium-large dogs, that's over a month of probiotics before I have to re-order. Not bad!I am very happy this product is also made in the USA (I do NOT buy anything my pets will ingest that is made in China!), and honestly don't know if I'll ever end up trying another brand at all. This brand has been so surprisingly effective already, I may just stick with it from here on out. I'll be sure to come back and update my review if I notice any other beneficial changes in my other two dogs. My GSD/Jindo/hound pup does have extreme allergies to a lot of things and eats some really awful stuff sometimes before I can catch her, and my GSD/border collie has a compromised immune system that causes skin issues periodically in his old age, so I'm eager to see if there is also improvement over time to either of those issues on this probiotic. One way or the other, it seems to have fixed my third dog's toxic breath, so even just that is enough for me to be ecstatic (especially since that's also the dog that tries to sneak tongue bleps whenever she can)!PLEASE NOTE: Although this worked for my dog's breath, please be aware that whether it helps your dog's breath or not will totally depend on the actual underlying CAUSE of the bad breath! My dog had a bacterial imbalance in her digestive system that was causing her bad breath, and I imagine it will work the same for others whose dogs have a bacterial imbalance as well. However, if your dog has an abscessed tooth, tooth decay, mouth cancer, or something of that nature that is causing the bad breath, I don't imagine probiotics will fix the issue. When in doubt, please always consult with your vet and have a complete examination to help identify the source of the issue! It's always better to be safe than sorry!I'm also attaching a photo of my three elderly goofballs. They are the light of my life! The lady on the left is the one who had the toxic breath. :)

Pup still eats poop
Weāve been using this product for about 6 months with our puppy, who is now 8 months old. This worked for my pup very well as a probioticāit helped keep his gut healthy, which improved his often loose stool, keeping it firm, which is what we wanted. This did not help him whatsoever with his poop eating. He still happily eats that when given the chance. Iād give it 5 stars as a probiotic, and 0 as a poop eating deterrent. Each dog is different, and it may work for yours, but it didnāt for mine.

Best Probiotic for Dogs and Cats
I initially gave this product a 5-star review, based on recommendations from a resource; those comments follow today's revision..I received this probiotic on September 15. By the end of October it was gone. I have 4 Australian Shepherds who recived one scoop of the powder per day, following the label recommendations. At the most, it's a quarter of a teaspoon, and when I hit the bottom of the jar I thought I had hit some sort of insert, because the floor of the inside of the jar is about an INCH above the bottom of the jar as you look at it from the outside. The label says you get up to 240 servings; for the 46 days it took for my dogs to empty the jar, there were 184 servings.I simply could not believe that I was paying $34.95 for a product that gave the consumer an inch of empty space, and was livid that the manufacturer was packaging using a false bottom, which is illegal.I wrote to the manufacturer; they responded, I responded; in the end they didn't seem to me that they were going to modify their label information to let the consumer know that the outside dimensions do not match the inside dimensions. They offered me a coupon for 40% off one cannister, which I will decline until such time that they demonstrate truth in advertising. Here is the exchange:1. My initial letter:Dear Vetrinex,Your product, probiotic for dogs and cats in the round white tub, was recommended to me by a specialty pet store. I bought it online a couple of months ago and have used it with good results with my four Australian Shepherds. Here's the thing. The container has a false bottom--not just a small false bottom, but a huge false bottom. Close to an inch of the space that seems to be product is, in fact, not product--you suddenly reach the floor of the container way before the small scoop would cause you to predict that the product is almost gone.I like this product, but your packaging appears to violate laws pertaining to "slack fill." I reliably leave a review of everything I purchase on Amazon. I would like to hear from you with some sort of promise to correct this problem. If I do not hear from you, I will assume you do not care, and will leave a review on Amazon that communicates my concern. This article might be of interest to you. [...]2. Their initial replies:On Thu, Nov 17, 2016 at 1:55 PM, Vetrinex Labs <[email protected]> wrote:Hi Holly,Thank you for your message, I will immediately look into the issue. The jar was not specced to have any false bottom - I will talk to the production manager and find out what happened.I will find out how this happened and let you know what we are doing to address the issue at the earliest.Sincerely.Vatsan Sarathy______________________________________Then...a second message. First photo is theirs.Hi,I looked into the matter and seem to have figured out the issue - The jar we use is called a double wall jar. It is called "double wall" because the jar is in two parts. The two parts are nested inside of each other creating two walls. Double wall jars are a higher end jar as they are much more firm and sturdy allowing them to hold up well during transport. This is particularly important when selling into Amazon as there is a lot of handling throughout the process. Single wall jars are a much cheaper product and have a higher rate of damage. You can literally squeeze a single wall jar. We stay away from these types of cheap jars.We actually disassembled the jar this morning and the difference in space between the inner shell and the outer shell is 1/4 of an inch. Attached is an image of the outer shell and inner shell so you can see what that looks like. The extra 1/4 of an inch is there to create a much more firm jar to help protect it during transport. There is no slack fill going on.________________________________________3. My Response...TO: Vatsan SarathyRE: Containers for Vetrinex ProbioticThank you for your excellent reply. It may very well be that the space between the two jars is only 1/4 inch. But when you add the thickness of the first jar, the interwall distance of 1/4 inch, and the thickness of the second jar, you still have close to an inch LESS of your product than the eye of the purchaser is led to believe. This probiotic is one of the most expensive, and we are getting much less than we think--the issue is the deceptiveness of the jar considering the actual contents. This is what truth in advertising is all about.I can think of a couple of solutions for you:a. Place a disclaimer on the label like this: (See the second picture)Or,b. Significantly reduce the price.I like your product and will continue to use it WHEN you make your jar more representative of the actual contents. Furthermore, I will write my review to include all of our conversations, as well as my experience that the product is a good product.I don't object to paying $34.95 for this probiotic, but I want the quantity of the product to be consistent with the size of the container that I am able to see. Please note Amazon's request for incorrect product information.https://www.amazon.com/Probiotics-Dogs-Cats-Prā¦/ā¦/B01EFI4U6WSincerely,4. Their final response:Hi Holly,Thank you so much for the suggestions - it definitely gives us ideas of how we can improve the product and packaging. The double walled jar has been chosen to best protect the product during transport and storage - we are utilizing most of the capacity of the jar. At not point are we trying to be deceptive of the contents - it says 120 grams on the jar, and there are are 120 grams of product in the jar.We are priced where we are because of the costs involved in manufacturing such a high quality product with a unique formulation. When compared to other probiotics, we do believe that we provide stellar value due to the concentrated nature of the product - as can seen by many customers referring to the value provided being better than the competition. However, I do understand how this might be expensive on a regular basis for someone who has 4 large dogs. As a token of our thanks for your suggestions, we are giving you a one-time coupon of 40% off on our product line - this coupon can be used only once and you can add as many products from our product line to cart: (Let me know if you have any issues with using the coupon, and I'll make sure that you are taken care of).Discounts up to 25% are always available for multiple units purchased together in the "special offers" section under the product description.I thank you once again. Please let me know if I can be of service to you in any other way.Sincerely,Vatsan Sarathy--------------------------------------------------------------Following is my initial review:I have used this probiatic in the past, but stopped once I started giving my dogs Missing Link every day. But to tell you the truth, there wasn't enough in that supplement, even though it is an excellent supplement, so I have returned to using this and will continue to use it. I started seeing the difference in the dogs' stool within 1-2 days.Additionally, this probiotic was recommended to me by someone whose opinion I trust during a time when I was noticing health changes in an older dog. His situation was kidney related, but I valued the referral...and so pass it along to all of you with doggies or kitties to love and keep well.

Didnāt work for my dog w/ NEW Update
This just unfortunately did nothing to help my dog. I purchased it for his skin and cacophagia. He had no problems eating it with his food or it upsetting his stomach it was just unsuccessful for us. My dog is a pit bull with insane environmental and foodallergies. I was hoping due to the reviews this would be helpful.Update: Vetrinex actually reached out to me following my review and issued me a full refund. Didnāt even ask for any product back. They also sent me a full jar of digestive enzymes. Hereās hoping theyāll help my little recycler!!! Thanks!
