Just Amazing!
EASY to set up, EASY to use, SAVES hours of rolling into a ball, GREAT price. Where has this been all of my life! Made yarn cakes all afternoon and saved myself hours of work and cramped fingers. My unit worked like magic and if it were to break tomorrow, I'd still order another one, I like it that much. Can't thank the brain that thought this one up, wow oh wow! Highly recommend this yarn tool to those folks who use yarn for any project. Just hold your tension slightly tight and you will be astounded!

Why did I wait so long...
I should have purchased this a long time. I used it last night for the first time and it was so easy to put together and make cakes. I made 3 and have more to go. I can't attest to durability but it seems well-made. I highly recommend!

It works
This is a good "first" ball winder. I use it for DK and worsted-weight yarn mostly. I noticed that if you don't hold the yarn you're feeding into it up high it will tangle and wrap under the base of the winder and cause you to backtrack. otherwise, it's very simple to use and it works just fine for me.

Best most dependable yarn winder ever!
I owned a royal yarn winder for almost twenty years and recently decided to get a new one. could not find a royal as they apparently no longer make them. I spent hours researching them (hubby laughs at me because they are not that expensive ) but I like to get the best that I can find. anyway everything I researched either turned out to be flimsy or loud and when I came across this one it sounds like it was made after the royal according to the discription. It works beautifully. nicely skeined yarns and very quiet and smooth. love it! hopefully it will last for the next twenty years.

Just what I needed
I really do like this little yarn winder. I have slowly converted half of my yarn collection into cakes and it is easy to do while watching TV. Just take your time, don't rush it, this is not a race. Also, don't forget what you are doing as you are winding and make a cake the size of a dinner plate. I almost did that. The cakes hold together pretty well and a regular skein of yarn will convert into 3 or 4 cakes, depending on the size of that skein. I store them in 1 gallon size zip lock bags to keep the colors together and the yarn clean.Update: I have had this yarn winder for 6 weeks and just wanted to emphasize how much I like it. It is nothing fancy and I have to crank it myself but it does a great job. I am happy with the yarn cakes it makes. They average between 3 1/2" to 4" in diameter. That is a good size for me.

Would highly recommend to anyone with yarn!
I'll admit I was overly excited and jumped right in without reading the directions. Yarn got twisted below the thing and I then read the instructions. Come to find out you have to move the arm over and it works like an absolute dream! I caked half a jumbo sized yarn (ended up as 2 cakes started at either end) and it was extremely speedy! I'm ecstatic to be using it more soon!

Absolutely recommend!
This winder is fantastic! I put it to the test with a few different yarn weights and it handled everything amazingly. It's sturdy and help firmly to my table without having to crank the clamp too much or damaging my table. The handle is thick and sturdy as well. I loved it so much that I made my husband try out a few skeins and he ended up really liking it too.

Stanwood Yarn Winder
The media could not be loaded. What a game changer for organising yarn! I couldn’t wait to share, although it did take longer for delivery, as it might have come from China. smooth and quiet. Only thing I can say is that it’s the smaller version, smaller than I thought. It winds up approximately 70g of Double Knit yarn.

Much better than the cheaper ones
I'm so glad I upgraded to this ball winder.I've bought two cheaper ball winders in the past (the $25 ones) and both have broken after minimal use and always taken care of (put back in the box after each use). This one had good directions included in the package. The directions, with pictures, are easy to follow with no chance of confusion. They even provide a way to contact the company should there be any issues.Though I've only used it once since it arrived, I must say I am completely satisfied with it. It is made of sturdier (thicker) plastic, the winder is smooth and doesn't wobble (like my previous cheap ones), and works solidly and quietly.I wish I had bought this one in the beginning; I could have saved myself the cost of the 2 cheap ones.If you need a ball winder, avoid those cheap $25 ones and get this one. Much better value for your money.Recommended.

Very happy
The media could not be loaded. I considered buying a cheap winder but based on other reviews I went for this one. I am super happy with it. I use it with a Chiaogoo swift and it creates nice cakes of yarn.

Great for sock yarn!
This winder works great. The mechanism is very smooth and feels like it will last me for many years. Set-up is very quick and easy. I can take it out, wind a hank and put it away in under 10 minutes. I don’t use a swift since I haven’t invested in one yet but I find placing my yarn on a blanket on the floor and guiding it with my hand to keep a slight tension on it works great. This is definitely designed for lighter weight yarns since you can wind around 100g in a cake. In the picture you can see a leftover 340g cotton medium weight (4) that I’ve had to wind into 3 cakes. If you work mostly with medium to bulky yarn this winder isn’t for you unless you buy very small hanks or just want something to wind up your leftovers neatly. Hope this helps!

Easy assembly and beautiful cakes!
So glad I stopped fighting with my pretty but pretty useless wooden winder and bought this one. Love it for its ease of set up and the beautiful cakes it produces!
