The end of Tanner's search for blue skies and sunshine--is it still out there?
Tanner, a 16-year-old girl, has seen it all since the end of the world started. First, it rained constantly, covering nearly all the world's land with water. In Snow, it stopped raining, but only because she and her group were in the mountains and it was too cold to rain. She had to deal with the snow and possibility of freezing to death instead. She also lost people she loved along the way: Dusty and Ernest the most significant. She also gained Dusty's dog, Voley. In Blue, she and Russell have finally seen blue in the sky. They set out in a small boat to find it, but at the start of this book they have to abandon the boat because of icebergs and ice floes. So now they are walking toward the blue sky across the ice. The good thing about this is that it is now warmer than it had been, but the bad news is that makes the ice very unstable.Tanner goes through horrible things in this book, but she never gives in. She is strong and tough and refuses to give in or be taken advantage of. She has to do things she never thought she would to survive, but she is resilient. There is a very big coincidence at the end of the book that I found difficult to believe, but this was such a good book I am going to overlook it in my rating. This is an excellent book, with a strong female heroine at its center. You feel for Tanner, but she is a survivor and never gives up no matter how bad it gets. The whole series was good, although at times it made me seasick, imagining being rained on all day, every day. I think this would be a good series of books for teenage girls to show them they have the strength to survive anything. It's a good series for the rest of us, too.

I believe that this could happen in the future
The whole series is written very well. I was spellbound through the whole series. As I just finished the last book I am sitting here saying wow! I will not give away any spoilers, just know that this series is well worth it no matter any cost involved.More than once I thought I had it figured out and then another twist happens. The ending was something I never ever expected. I will say if you are an emotional person there will be tears from your eyes in several spots.I have found my new favorite author and will be purchasing more of his books.Thank you for your imagination and the ability to put it all down on paper. Well done!

The End of the World? NO the beginning of a great read!
Adventure which you can hardly put down! Joseph Turkot has produced a 3 book trilogy in which the world has come close to ending due to rain which never seems to end which brings on flooding that covers all but the highest mountain peaks. A scenario that reminds me of the biblical flood but without the Arc. An interesting idea but Turkot makes it even more interesting by creating characters that seem to live and breathe. I recommend all three books to anyone who wants to enjoy a fast paced adventure! I am trying to loose a bit of weight and started reading this on the treadmill. It was hard to put down so I added a couple of miles every day! Clark Powers

I enjoyed them all very much
I read The Rain, the snow and the blue. I enjoyed them all very much! I would recommend them for anyone who loves PA fiction. I loved the premise of the stories and liked the characters. My only criticism is that while I LOVE a book that is 400+ pages, The Snow and The Blue could have easily been a hundred shorter. There were pages and pages where absolutely nothing happened and I found myself scrolling past. Even after 25+ pages! there was still nothing new happening. I understand the author was trying to convey the sense of hopelessness and I appreciate that but it got more than a bit tedious to have to keep scrolling on and on to find something happening. Anyway, I liked the books and will buy the next one. I just hope its a little more active and eventful.

I will admit that I was a little disappointed in the way it turned out at the end
The last of the series of 3 books, I was most anxious to see how it turned out. I will admit that I was a little disappointed in the way it turned out at the end. It left me wanting more and with a lot of questions as to what happens to her character down the road. Maybe the author is going to write a 4th. book? He is a great writer and does keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time. I will most likely be reading more of his books.

Another must read
Finally, a third must read in the series. This one wraps it all up, without fluff or gloss. All the terrible things foreshadowed through the series -- actually do happen. The scene between Spots and Russell on the sea ice was terrible and riveting. And this book includes the most wrenching death scene I've ever sobbed through. That was the only time, in all three books, I had to put it down, walk away, and come back later. Still, I had to come back later, couldn't set it down for long. I had to know what happens next.

Story Concluded Through Clever Storytelling
After more than 900 pages of enjoyable narrative through the three books, Turkot has the good sense (but also audacity) to leave an important story element unresolved (the main character's guilt about an uncompleted assignment). It is an amazing act of authorial self-confidence--tell us everything about the oddyssey of Tanner, but then not resolve one item. It made me think and I decided he was saying: it will work out and even though the character is deeply concerned, the whole thing is trivial compared to her survival. In the end: there is no place like home.

This is the third book in a series. I ...
This is the third book in a series. I had to wait for this book to catch my breath and write a review. Never since The DaVinci Code have I read anything so well paced that I couldn't put them down ! After all that ,I still wanted more !! Mr.Turkot is a master of getting into the minds of his characters..both male and female. I'm sure I will be reading more of his work in the future !!

Didn't want the trilogy to end.....
Ok, well i've been looking forward to reading this for so long but dreading it at the same time. I'm not sure how I expected it to end or how I wanted it to end. For those of you who are wanting to know if it's worth reading, yes it definitely is; and there are no spoilers in this review. From the start of The Rain I wanted to believe that it would all work out ok for Russell and Tanner (and maybe it does), that they would find Leadville and the beginnings of a new and better life. With climate change as it is, this story is believable. You can visualise the continuous rain and cold, their daily struggles, the horror of the face eaters (cannibalism has and does happen, for survival reasons and other). Joseph Turkot is, in my opinion, one to be watched and i'm looking forward to reading more of his work.

Something happening on every page.
How can you write a story about someone stuck on a lump of ice.But he did, and what a story. I was going to take this as a slow read, but I had to keep picking it up to find out what happened next.Everypage something happening. Exciting read, and I am only half way through.

Fantastic
I was hooked throughout this whole book. Reading about Tanner and Russell again was fantastic. Any book that has me hooked and up half the night reading, like this one has, deserves 5 stars. I've gone through many emotions when reading this series and I would whole heartily recommend it to anybody.

Fantastic end to the trilogy
I enjoyed all of the books in the trilogy immensely and I feel lost now that they have come to an end. I don't often review books but in view of the small number of reviews that these books have had, I felt that I should post a review. I am now looking forward to WIPE, Turkot's new post-apocalyptic story.
