Companion Planting for Beginners: Pair Your Plants for a Bountiful, Chemical-Free Vegetable Garden

I have purchased a few 'companion planting' books over the years and this one is absolutely the best. And yet it is so much more! The book layout is sequential and covers the nuts and bolts of gardening with plenty of color photos. I like Brian's writing style: it's as though he is talking to us on a video. But Chapter 9, the vegetable reference is brilliant. It is a quick, go-to guide for what plants work BEST together making it easy to plan or re-plant your beds. The color graphic in the top right corner is the visual that will make this book THE garden resource year after year. No doubt this gardening book will become dog-eared and frayed at this house. I am planning to gift this one many times! Great job Brian!

If you are a beginner (or experienced) gardener, or like me - you picked up gardening during COVID to cope with the whole pandemic situation, this is the one book you need to buy today. Not only does Brian explains companion planting, but he also provides a wealth of information about gardening in general, tips & tricks to get your plants to a great start and finish, and many recommendations to keep your garden healthy! This is my number one go-to resource to know how to deal with pests, germination, and up-keeping of my garden. Also, Chapter 9 is an excellent resource about how to start-grow-harvest the most common vegetables many of us enjoy and its companion plants.

Very easy to understand, just like his videos.

The first pic is showing my notes that I took from this book. I have pages and pages of notes from this book along with notes from all of his U-tube videos. This book made me go outside of my comfort zone in a good way. I may have lots of extra food but thats not a bad thing, especially when you can help out family, friends, and your local food bank. This book is so worth the money. Plus notice on the 3rd pic that the book stays open. I like when I don’t have to fight the binder which you won’t. I hope you enjoy the book as much as I have.

Brian is so knowledgeable and my garden is transformed since I began implementing his practices! The book is easy to read, well organized, gorgeous pics, and helpful planting guides.

Where do I start? First off: I waited very patiently for this book since the author announced writing it. When it finally arrived, I was at work and had to wait 12 hours to put my hands on it. It was one of the best days in my life! It is very well written, has beautiful pictures and touches the subjects that will interests all gardeners alike. I truly do not have any favorite chapter. From 1st page to the last: everything is important and I use or will use it in my garden. I am, as many of us, a covid gardener, late bloomer. When I started, I felt like I needed to go back to college for yet another degree to make sense of the avalanche of all information. Came across you tube channel: Next Level Gardening, and the rest is history. The channel, now the book give me answers to so many questions! I kill less and less plants! I practiced some companion planting already but this book will take me to the next level! Thank you Brian!One thing missing (for me): I would love my book signed by the author. But I may get my wish, who knows...

This is an excellent book, very well written with beautiful photos and nicely laid out. I have learnt a lot already and am putting it all into practice right now. I bought one for my dad too for his birthday and he said he's very impressed with it. The author is a YouTuber and I have been following him now for over a year and have watched his channel grow immensely in such a short space of time, such a great inspiration.

Brian is a keen YouTuber and his easy going style translated well into his first book. Both my wife and I have gleaned a wealth of knowledge already. Excellent primer for new growers but also lots for experienced gardeners as well.

I follow Brian on Facebook and YT in Next Level Gardeners as he has a abundance of great info on gardening.I specifically came to his YT channel looking for info on planting tomatoes from seed and I was blown away by all the knowledge he possesses! He is a wealth of information.I have now gone from just planting basil and tomatoes to a whole backyard full of flowers and veggies. I’d never have taken the plunge to do this without the help of this book! It’s chalk full of info from soil info to where to plant, seed selection, which plants can be planted together and which ones cannot.I can’t wait to see how all our gardens take off this year with the help of this book! It’s so well laid out - a delight to read so far.Congratulations Brian!

I am still reading this book as well as using it for reference since I follow this authors You Tube Channels. This book contains everything about gardening and appeals to gardeners from many gardening zones. It helps those who plant directly in ground as well as those who plant in raised gardens or containers. It also informs you of many ways to trellis your vegetables and getting the maximum yield from small places. Brian Lowell shares his knowledge with you as you would talk to a neighbour or friend. He shares his garden successes and failures with you in the same manner. He isn’t afraid to admit to mistakes and offers solutions to fix them. He will build on old projects that are currently working to even make them work better for you. He likes to hear from followers also as to what worked for them in their situations if different from his own suggestions. He also likes to hear if his advice worked for you. This is why I trusted him enough to purchase his book. I hope others will purchase this book as well.
