Superb
I bought this book for my 10 year old daughter to read but she's not had a chance to read any of it yet. That's because I decided to read it first. It was a wonderful read. The acompanying art work to go with each of the profiles was amazing too. With any book such as this it would be quite easy to pick out all the people who were not profiled within it. But that would be a great injustice to all the people that were included. Many of whom I had never heard of before but who have been deservedly included. It was great to read their stories of defiance and success against the odds.I'll now pass this book onto my daughter and my wife to read. And then when my son is ready, I'll make sure he reads it too.Well Done All.

Worth every penny
Great book outlining some important women in south Asian culture who are prime examples of breaking stereotypes. The stories are short but effective and give us that outline of why these particular women are of significance. Their stories are important and relevant in an era where we are trying to demonstrate in the south Asian culture that the birth of a female is nothing to be ashamed of. We should be celebrating women/girls not pushing them down because they aren’t boys. This book seems to aim at showing young girls that they are capable of much more than they imagine. it’s about changing mindsets of generations to see, there’s no shame in being a girl. The illustrations are just amazing. The detail in them and the colours are beautiful. I think they’re the perfect addition to the book.Overall very happy with this. Would recommend this book, especially if you want to show your daughter/sister/niece or even the boys that girls can be superheroes too and even in the south Asian culture!

Important and enjoyable
I bought this for my niece and she really loves it. She and her mother enjoy reading the stories together, and for my sister, it's a real education. Growing up in the 70s and 80s, one would think that South Asian women were seldom seen and never heard, certainly not makers of history or iconoclasts. The history of all peoples is so important to know that we are all equally strong, brave and indeed frail. Is this heaping too much significance and praise on the book? I don't believe so as my niece is quite the adventurer, and although she is supported by the whole family to be so, she also knows that's not strange or weird as she's following in some amazing footsteps.

Amazing read and great representation for little girls!
A well put together and thought provoking book which everyone, not just those of South Asian origin will find interesting. It brings to the fore amazing women who aren’t/haven’t been given the widespread press they deserve. It also provides great representation for young girls of South Asian background such as my two, who can read these amazing stories and associate with the leading ladies who have the same skin colour as them.

Empowering stories about empowering south asian women
This book has made me cry tears of pain & joy. The women listed in this book were / are empowered, inspirational & the ones that led and continue to lead the way for all women to be the best version of themselves. The author has put together theses stories sensitively without them losing impact of the womens achievements & the lessons we should and could learn. The biggest impact on me of this book is to never give up..keep walking towards the light. Determination tenacity honesty is something all these women have in common. I would like to thank the author Raj Kaur Khaira, for such an inspirational book.
