Very high tech and user friendly
The media could not be loaded. I am fairly new to the aquarium hobby, and this heater is in my first tank. 40 gallon tank with a canister filter. When I started I had a fluval m200 heater and for the first few weeks it seemed to work fine. After a few weeks I noticed that it started short cycling. It would turn on every 5-10 minutes and only run for a very short period of time. I didn't think much of it, but over a few days the tank started dropping in temperature and I had to find a new heater.I didn't want something which could develop the same problem, and when I saw this heater it really caught my eye. This heater is very heavily oversized for my 40 gallon tank. BUT it has a variable frequency drive. I am familiar with these through my line of work, but for those of you who don't know, imagine it like a dimmer switch for a light bulb. Instead of just being an on or off device, this heater can ramp up or down to only deliver the exact amount of heat needed. Hyger does not seem to be an established brand in the aquarium hobby, but they were the only manufacturer with this advanced level of technology that I could find. My local aquarium shop wasn't sure about the brand either, but I decided to pull the trigger and purchase. It has now been about 2 weeks and I am very happy with this heater. On initial startup or if the water gets very cold I have seen the screen on this heater turn red where it can pull in excess of 500 watts and really heats the water fast. Under normal operation I see this heater usually pulling between 60-120 watts which is UNDER what a 40 gallon tank should typically need. The heater remains on in this mode for long periods of time, I have seen multiple hours at a time where it is only pulling enough power to just keep the tank at the right temperature without cycling on and off.If I have one complaint, it's that the built in thermometer is slightly off of the actual temperature. I usually see it between .2 to .4 above the actual water temperature, but this is a minor complaint.Time will tell how well this heater is built or if it develops any issues, but very happy with it so far and highly recommend it.

Powerful 800w heater.
I bought this heater to keep my small outdoor pond at 78 degrees F in Texas over winter. I have some guppies and plants in there that I’d prefer not to die. It works great! It gets hot quickly. It’s kind of large, but is built well. It’s easy to setup but the display is hard to see once it’s in your tank. It’s a good value for what it brings.

Pretty impressive
We've gotta keep 125 Gallons warm. Sometimes it's tough to do in a northern climate, with the tank right next to a sliding glass door. I'm an electrician by trade, and was mostly impressed by the specs. 800W Aquarium heater, taking almost 40% of usable wattage from a 20AMP circuit, I thought it was mostly fluff. The digital wattage readout I thought was more fluff, as I put it in the tank with a temp of 72, and it immediate cranked it to 950W then slowly rolled up. I felt a bit miffed my 800W heater was pulling 950W, not because it was overdelivering, just felt like it was over displaying. Took out the Fluke amp probe and saw I was pulling 9AMPs on the breaker, 1.5 AMPs with the heater off. It was legitimacy pulling those 950W. I'd say it has a 1000W element in it, that it doesn't allow to run at full capacity. Which is excellent for the long term health of the element. I left one of 250W heaters in the tank, mostly as a safety because why not. It's funny we paid $100 for 2 very nice 300W heaters, but they couldn't keep up with the tank, hitting 75 on the colder days, when we were at -3 this year we hit 71. We maybe getting rid of our digital thermometers, the design on this one is quite nice. We've got a Yuan Bow who patrols every single inch of the aquarium, and she males trouble where there is none, so I was a bit hesitant as she started to make her rounds around the heater tonight, but sticking my hand around it, I've really got to mash my finger in to get to anywhere warm, and I think it's just because I'm still a half inch away from the element. For $70, this really knocks it out of the park, the length on the cord meant I can mount the switch under the tank, make it easily accessible if I need to get to it, but if it's doing its job, which it is, I'll never need to touch it again. It was nice to see it drop to 500W as it got half a degree away, then slowly drop down to 75W when it hit temp, then chilled at 45W for 15 minutes before jumping up to 200W for a minute. It uses power intelligently, making sure it doesn't have to take half an entire circuit to maintain temp, which is important if you don't have a dedicated outlet for your aquarium. Definitely a good find, but if you're running your tank on a 15AMP circuit, you should be mindful this will take 60-80% of that when it's going full bore, but it's exactly what it was designed to do. Refreshing to see a product over deliver.

A heater for my turtle.
It can be really hard to choose aquarium heaters. Many people will have heard stories about having a heater fault and boiling fish. Hygger is a reputable brand and after my last heater died I did some research and gave this one a go. It's a strong heater that regulates the temperature accurately and consistently. The underwater, in tank, display looks really cool and keeps you up to date with the temp and the heaters operating status. The display in the tank means that you don't need to mount a control box and display nearby, which is a boon. This 500w handles my 50+ gallon tank very nicely. My turtle is happy.

Works well
So far I’ve only had it running about 2 months during winter in my outdoor pond. It’s a 300g stock pond filled abt half way to not over work the heater. It’s been doing good, the only gripe I have about it is the metal heating plate under the plastic has turned into a rusted red color but as long as it works who cares.
