Obviously returned by someone else, box is a mess. Would not recommend for such an important gift
As I mentioned above, my first impression was that this product has been opened and returned. The box is in terrible shape. It’s rather hard to judge the product when this was the first thing I noticed. I will probably be returning it, it was to be a special confirmation gift.

Darn that red arrow - Could have been great!
The material quality is great but one critical error. The red needle is supposed to point to North. The red needle on this compass faces South. I guess my Grandson might not find this to be a big deal at his current age but you also don't want him thinking all compasses are like this. Compass casing is solid with nice antique finish. Pouch seems to be leather and made well. Chain is of good quality. Darn that red arrow.

No instructions included
It is a gift so I won’t be using the product personally. But there needs to be instructions on how to use the side button and the product in general. Also a small hourglass was included, and I have no idea what it’s for.

Perfect for honoring Granny
Gave it to my dad for Christmas, from the perspective of our late Grandmother giving it to him. He loved it.
