I still have a 6th Gen iPod with this 30 pin connector. I use it in my car, and previously just had a long cord wrapped around my gear shift. However, I recently got a new computer including a special desk-mounted stand for my new monitors. The base of the stand has a couple USB ports, so don't need a long cord to reach the tower, and I didn't want the cable cluttering up my desk, so I bought a couple of these. Works perfect to de-clutter my desk and car. I took off one star because sometimes the end that connects to the iPod gets stuck... Both cables have the same problem. It's just a little tricky sometimes removing my iPod. Maybe the cable's connector is designed a fraction of a mm too large or maybe the tiny little springs just don't release properly... Maybe after I've had the cables longer than a couple months it'll loosen up (and if it does, I'll come back, edit, and give them that 5th star)... Do I think it's so bad it'll damage my iPod? No, not really. It's just that I have to take two hands to remove (one to firmly hold the iPod, another to firmly squeeze the connector), whereas my stock cable can easily be removed one handed. More annoying inconvenience that problem. Though come to think of it, I've never had the cable pop-out while driving, as I have with the stock... So bonus? LOL

Convenience of this short cable depends on your car type. Much neater than all the excess cord in my Altima and Maxima.

Arrived with scuffs on both connectors. Not a big issue but the one by the iPhone connector actually appears as if the cord isn't seated well into the connector, so I'm worried it won't last. Still, it's cheap, does the job and has held up to over a month's worth of daily plugging/unplugging.

This little guy was exactly what I was looking for. Make sure you know what five inches really is so you're not disappointed when it arrives. I have this connected all the time to a mounted iPod Nano in my Jeep. The locking mechanism that comes standard on all 30 pin connectors holds strong on this cable—plenty of vibration on a washboard road and it held strong. This cable was so perfect that my wife saw it and I had to order a second one for her iPod in her car.

First time I used this cable the plastic portion of the i-phone connecter pulled loose and I had to carefully remove it with a small pair of pliers and reglue the plastic piece to the connector. After that it works fine. A bit of QC on this problem is in order.
