It’s a direct fit replacement for the original one on my 99 vstar 650 classic. Nite that it does not come with the o ring and you will have to order the o ring separately...I had the typical dreaded oil leak that most custard developed and I ordered this and the o ring assuming mine original 20 plus year old unit finally cracked. I was pleasantly surprised when the original was fine, it was just the o ring ... still swapped in the new unit and new o ring and saved the original for emergency use...I’ve got a week and 500 miles on the bike and no leaks..

This is the number one v star design flaw and causes oil leaks. It is a very easy repair as well. Most bikes this will crack at the 3 torx screw holes (hot engine case and plastic duh). Make sure you order the o ring this is a factory part so the o ring is sold separately.

Switch was an exact replacement. Fit into place easily. Just had to be careful not to over tighten the bolts. Leak is gone. I have put more than 1,000 miles on the bike since I put it on. Working great.

Had to replace one that was cracked at all three bolt holes. Doesn't leak anymore.

My mechanic discovered that an insistent very slow oil leak on my bike was due to the fact that somebody, sometime, had overtighted one of the mounting screws of this part, resulting in a crack. While you're at it, replace the red rubber O-ring as well (a separate purchase).
