RIVERHEAD Sea Prayer

Not a novel but a short memoir-prayer with painted illustrations
Pre-ordered this as it's a Khaled...but was surprised to see a real thin, hardbound book with with illustrated paintings accompanying Khaled's text. This is not a novel, so practice caution while ordering this. Three stars for the content, the painting and the highest quality print. Powerful text like always from the master story teller... we'll have to just wait longer for a full fledged novel from him again

Buy this one to extend a helping hand towards refugees
I recently read Sea Prayer by Khaled Hosseini. The book has a powerful message from a father to his son, who looks back upon the time when there was peace in the town where he lived. The narrator recalls the cheerful time and wishes that his child could have experienced it all. He laments over the fact that nothing would be same now, with everything destroyed and affected because of the ongoing war.๐Sea Prayer brings out the distress that refugees are subjected to. So many readers felt that the book isn't long enough, but I feel that the author has highlighted his message and conveyed it in a manner which doesn't need a thousand words, the ones used are just enough to touch you and leave an impact. The words will touch you, break you and affect you in every possible way. It is not a fiction, but a harsh reality of millions of innocent refugees.

book full of illustrations and verses!
The description did not mention that it ws a book full of illustrations and few verses. Had been eagerly waiting for it since months and then this is what I get! So dissappointed. Was excited to read a heart wrenching story just like khaled's other books. It is so disheartening.

A cute little heartbreaking tale of love and loss that will steal your heart.
I don't know if this was a poem, a short-story, or a novel. All I know is that my heart's numb for Kurdi's family and those thousands whose lives were shattered in the Syrian war...At the heart of it, Hosseini's latest tribute to Syrian families is more than an just another novel. A heartbreaking and heartwarming tale of poignant reminiscence that a father relays to his son while on his journey away from his war-torn country, his home. With just handful of words, Hosseini makes a brilliant attempt at melting the coldest of hearts; something most gigantic novels fail at...Read it for the sheer brilliance of the expression of his thoughts, in fewer words and sketches that will last forever in your memories.

Not worth it
I am probably the biggest fan of this author but this book has disappointed me too much. I knew I was signing up for a short book with illustrations but none of it is worth it. The content is average and illustrations do not evoke any emotion. You could probably walk into a store and read this book in 3 minutes flat. The poetry didnโt ring a bell so I donโt like this book at all. ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ
