Worked to clean out vehicle paint chips
This item wasn't exactly as I'd expected, but it worked well for removing debris from small paint chips on my car prior to adding a primer, basecoat and paint. The tip on the sanding pen is made of small, tightly compacted fibers which do sand small areas very well. The fibers can break, but I found very little of that when using this item. You have to twist the pen to deploy the bristles. I found that while the pen seemed rather flimsy in its build-quality, the pen worked as expected and it was easy to extend the bristles to varying lengths.I'd recommend this as a tool for those looking to repair vehicle paint chips, or hobbyists who need to sand in tight areas.

This is a good product because its handy can get into small spaces ...
This is a good product because its handy can get into small spaces and sands just fine. I am an artist and i needed to sand some acrylic off canvas in a detailed fashion. It worked great! so practical!CONS: This is made of some sort of tiny brushes so when you use this the tiny brushes fall off and get everywhere. If you get it on your skin it is like like getting a splinter stuck on you that annoys you forever. Lots of them depending how much you use it. Use this outdoors and wear gloves and glasses if your a beginner. Little splinters are annoying and if not careful they get everywhere. If you have kids becareful.

Think something akin to what a crushed skittle looks like. I had to sand down two symmetrical spots ...
I bought this for the purpose of cleaning up some dings on the grill of my car. I drive a low ground clearance Miata and had someone back up over the top of my front end leaving some pushed-up nicks which warped the clear coat and base coat finishes. Think something akin to what a crushed skittle looks like. I had to sand down two symmetrical spots roughly the size of a dime each before fixing the paint. This pen was perfect for the job because the fiber glass bristles splinter away allowing more give in your strokes without feeling like you're damaging the existing finish. It took about 20 minutes of rigorous "scrubbing" to eat through both the clear coat and base coat, but the result was a nice and even surface to prep for repairs. With that in mind, I HIGHLY recommend wearing gloves for this. Again, these are many fine bristles of fiber glass being whittled down and creating a powder where it falls. This powder contains tiny pine-needle shards of glass that WILL, and trust me it WILL, pierce your fingers and get stuck there. Now, I won't say how I know this, but let's say it took me a bit longer to type this with my hands than it normally would.

I don't use this tool as it is recomended. It is sold as a 'prep tool' for small paint touch-ups. Some years ago it was also sold for cleaning up corrosion on marine electrical terminals under another brand name. I don't know why they stopped selling them, they do a fantastic job of removing corrosion. There are some 'cautions'! This tool cleans using glass fibers as a brush, the label states that you should use eye and skin protection - they are not kidding (anyone who has worked with fiberglass will be familiar). Broken glass fibers don't show up on X-rays, if you embed them in your eye they will be hard (for the ER) to find and remove them. Provided you can accept and follow that warning, it will be hard to find a more effective way of cleaning electrical terminals and even corroded wires (if they can not be replaced reasonably) before installing new terminals. My only 'complaint' is the cost, not that they are not worth the price, it's just that I keep giving them to 'friends in need' so I end up purchasing 3 for every one that I use up (they are consumable items). On the other hand, once I demonstrate how well they work, I usually don't get called as often for 'emergency' repairs as my friends can usually make their own repairs. If you do repairs of electrical connections on boats, farm equipment or anything else subject to getting wet and dirty, do yourself a favor and buy a couple to put in your 'connecter kit', I think you will be glad you did.

Absolute must have!
I've had this for 5 years now, and as a hobbyist/DIY'er, this is the single best tool for cleaning up electrical prongs and electronic contact surfaces. This an extremely handy tool to keep in your bag of tricks.

Tip needs to be the size of a silver ball pin head for automotive rock chip use
The pen does a good job but the size of the tip is gigantic for sanding rock chips on vehicle. Maybe if a pebble the size of a dime hits your car it is fine and leaves a chip the size of a pea then it could be used. I'm not sure why so many makers of touchup items for vehicles can't understand that most chips are much smaller than the products they release. I realize this is a universal tool but automotive was in the description so I'm just venting a little after dealing with this and touchup paint kits that have applicators that are way too big to actually fix the issue without it looking like a toddler did it. I am eventually going to see if I can somehow cut the tip down before use but then that means each time I have to push more out I have to trim it again and that will be a lot of times. It does a very good job at sanding the the clearcoat and paint very slowly and is easy to use, it's the size that is the problem. If it had a tip the size of on one of those round silver ball pin heads then it might be perfect. Like others have said, it is fiberglass and kicks off fiber dust so be wary of wind and wear nitrile gloves and eye protection or pay the annoying price.

sanding pen made it extremely easy to scuff all the wounds and prep them nicely ...
I bought a used 2016 mustang that someone seemed to have spent quite a bit of time on the freeway with before me, as there were a dozen chips in the bumper (very small, but noticeable since the car is white and the chips appear black).sanding pen made it extremely easy to scuff all the wounds and prep them nicely for painting, without damaging the surrounding areas and making the touch up more noticeable. Would definitely buy another one of these if I have to do more touch up work.Yes, the fibers are brittle and will break off easily..but that's the point. take your time and don't use excessive force and it works very nicely for even really small chips.

An amazing tool
An amazing tool for sanding hard to get spots, works awesome on automotive touch ups as well as intricate wood working projects. I used mine to sand small tight spaces in truck box prior to spraying in a liner. Like other reviewers said, don’t extend the bristles more than a couple millimetres and make sure what you are sanding is free of wax and grease

lija y quita el brillo rapidamente
Pequeño juguete para manualidades, solo lija superficies perfectas, la pintura la lija muy finamente, pero si encuentra algún bulto se degrada rápido la punta.

An excellent product for precise sanding for very small target areas
When I purchased my demo BMW, the previous owner decided to "blob" touchup paint on each of the chips on the hood. I could not think of any effective means of trying to until I encountered this glass fiber sanding pen. It works extremely well. The small size and narrowness of the tip allows really precise sanding and I was able to reduce the various "bumps" before finishing with compounding and final paint correction. This item is extremely affordable and the replacement glass fiber inserts are also very attractively priced.

Works great...but not for multiple jobs
This is a great tool. However, when doing car paint touch-ups you can wear the fibers down pretty quick. I found a 3 pack elsewhere on Amaxon, wish I had bought thoss in the first place. But if you only intend on doing 5-10 small stonechips, then this is exactly what you want.
