Aromatherapy Moist Heat Back & Shoulder Wrap

I initially discovered several people discussing this back and shoulder wrap on a May Thurner support group. One person in particular highly recommended this wrap for me after knowing we endure many of the similar problems stemming from our iliac and femoral veins being compromised.Wrap, where have you been all my adult life?! I heat the wrap in our microwave in 3 to 4 different 45 second increments for a total of 3 minutes in our 110 watt microwave. In between each increment I remove the wrap and refold with the inside portion out to more evenly heat the pads. Somehow with the rice it allows for MOIST HEAT which is what my chiropractor recommends for my back.Since I have extensive issues with the veins in my abdomen and leg, I found I can lay the "back" portion along my thigh and wrap the "shoulder" portions over my belly and side as my friend recommended. The wrap will remain warm for well over an hour, especially if under a blanket. Toasty for those cold winter evenings while watching movies!! Recently one of the young adult stepkids needed a ride on a cold winter evening. I took my preheated wrap along for the ride, it helped to minimize the development of the leg and groin pain always associated with an experience out in the cold elements.Women, this heat wrap is awesome for monthly cramps too!!According to the package, the wrap packets contain rice for warm moist heat, eucalyptus for revitalizing (and opening airways), clove for calm comfort and cinnamon for rejuvenation. My granddaughters snuggled up saying the pack smelled like warm pumpkin pie! The rice packets can be removed so the fleece wrap can be washed in warm water then air dried or tumbled on low.Made in China by Spa Necessities, I am very much impressed with the quality and durability. The packaging claims "soothe your body, relax your mind, refresh your senses." The Back and Shoulder Wrap has done all it claims and much, much more.I would definitely buy again and I would highly recommend this wrap for anyone who's been recommended to use "moist heat" by their medical professional.

This heat wrap has some real positives, but has a couple negatives that take away from its enjoyment. It holds heat great and actually seems to get warmer during use than it is when you first take it out of the microwave. It is soft and smells very nice. However, it is clearly designed to be used while lying flat -- if using in a sitting position (such as in office chair while working or on couch while resting) the design causes the filling to drop to the bottom of the pockets and makes it lumpy and inconsistent on where the heat is. Also, the shoulder portion doesn't seem to have much if any filling that would hit the top of the shoulders in any position, not even while lying flat. I am enjoying it and am glad I have it, but I will continue to search for the perfect solution for heating my chronic upper back & shoulder pain.

This wrap is wonderful, once you get all the packs heated up and placed in the wrap. It is a little tedious to unvelcro and then pull out each pack from it's sleeve, and then put them back in after you've warmed them up. I bought this as a Christmas gift for my husband, and while he likes it, when he has really bad back/shoulder pain, he'd rather use our simple heating pad because he doesn't want to go through the process of unvelcroing each pack. However, if you do take the time to do so, it is quite worth it. The smell is so nice and relaxing, and the warmth of each pack feels amazing. If my husband won't use it often, I will definately use it because I love it. I'm 5'4", so the wrap does wrap around my shoulders and goes just about to the bottom of my back.

Nice hefty weight to this products adds to the conforting effects. Hook and loop(velcro) patches for case enclosures and also to keep the inner packs seated in place. I have not tested the wash-ability yet. But for fit form and function as described in the product marketing it does what I expected.Toss it in the microwave for a few minutes and it's moist and steamy. The only downside for me is the aroma. The clover mainly and slight eucalyptus is what fills my microwave for a little while after I heat this up. I usually toss this onto a plate, heat it and then leave the microwave open to air out while I use this. I've had no residual issues doing that. Other than that, it does what i need and the weight makes it a good purchase for me.

I call this type of heating pad, "nuke-it-pads", and I use them all day/night, so I've actually been through quite a few of these. This one, I noticed that there are individual Velcro pockets with loose seeds in these pockets, just velcroed shut. So, if you don't use it much, you probably won't have a problem with these seeds escaping, but if you use it as much as I do, these seeds just come out and go everywhere! Also, this one is Ivory and if you're putting it under your body a lot, it will soak up body oils and dirt, so I have to put a pillow case around mine to keep it somewhat clean. There are definitely other brands that I would use over this one, next time I'm ready to purchase one, which will no doubt be soon, with as frequently as these seeds are escaping!!!

While I can understand why some people find this heat pack too fragrant I find it has worked out well for my needs. I am using it to help an upper back issue. It is large enough to cover my entire upper back and truly gives moist heat. I will says that the fragrance is stronger than would be ideal but I don't find it offensive and I am hopeful that it wil diminish some over time as has been my experience with similar style heat packs. One other note, this heat pack is large enough to need a medium to large size microwave to heat it up. There don't seem to be a lot of full back heat packs on the market and I'm glad I got this.
