Good Ideas - but language is edging on Universalism
There are several good ideas in this book, which is why I am giving it 3 stars. However, evangelical buyers should be aware that the author is definitely leaning toward a universalist perspective. She even sugvests that these traditions and celebrations could be used by families outside of the Christian Faith entirely. While I'm all for people knowing about and exploring other faith traditions, it can be misleading when one is supposed to be teaching an Absolute Truth to encourage children to explore other options at a young age.I know this is the direction many would like to see the church go, and I am not intolerant. But a book of Christian instruction needs to be focused in the Gospel.

Good tool for family faith activities
This book is a great resource for those trying to bring more faith experiences and conversations into their family life. We are using several of the Lenten idea with our kids (ages 11 and 13). Some activities require some prep work, but others are pretty easy with a high impact. Not all activities will be right for your family, but there are lots to choose from, and variations on some to adapt to older or younger children.

Traci Smith invites families to explore their faith using simple, engaging, creative practices that will nourish their connection to God and to each other. For every day and for celebrations, or in times of sadness and difficulty, parents will find an activity or ritual or prayer that needs little in the way of preparation or materials and yet they effectively draw families into the Holy, encouragewonder and nourish the spirit. This wonderful resource makes an ideal gift for new parents or baptism and belongs in the library of clergy and church educators as well.

Good ideas
Good simple ideas for faith based family routines and traditions. Lots of it is for holidays but there is still a good portion that is for other times.

Great, accessible resource for families!
I love this book! It is a great resource for sharing with the families in my congregation. The language is accessible and encouraging. The practices are inspiring and easy to put together in about 30 minutes. These practices can easily be used with life long church-goers and those new to faith. I used the cell phone prayer as a staff devotion and everyone loved it! I appreciate how the book is divided into everyday, special occasions and traditional spiritual practices. It is the first resource I turn to when I am planning events and classes.

This is my go-to book!
This is my go-to book for creative, simple, and engaging ways to help families bring faith practices to their day-to-day lives. It's a great antidote to "but we don't have time for elaborate rituals" laments -- Traci's ideas are easy to use and require very little prep, but foster deep connection to the Spirit and to each other. We now give it as a baptism gift at our church, and new parents love it!

Go-to Baby Gift
This book is my go-to baby gift! It is full of a variety of different spiritual practices for children from 0-18 and parents with a variety of faith experiences. Not every practice will work for every family, but that's the point. It is a source book of ideas, and every family will find something to try to deepen their walk with God.

Prayer practices and traditions to help your family grow in faith
This is a delightful and helpful book for parents looking to find ways to incorporate their Christian faith into the practices of their family. It's full of creative and inspiring ways to pray and reflect with children, and to make faith part of every day life, not just something you do for an hour a week on Sundays. It's encouraging and full of ideas and suggestions of how to adapt them for different circumstances.

Practical guide for teaching and practicing faith with your family
Very practical book that outlines a bunch of ideas that you can implement in your family for 'practicing' faith together. I appreciate that this guide focuses on giving diverse ideas that can fit into everyday life, but also suggestions for special occasions and holidays. This book also does a pretty good job of describing ways the suggestions can be modified to fit different families, churches, and lifestyles. A good read for someone looking for ideas on how to teach their kids about faith.

So practical!
This book is so nice to touch! The cover is so soft. It is filled with practice ways of celebrating the church calendar in a waldorf way, while also including ways to celebrate or mark other life events. An awesome resource for every family.
