Wish we got it sooner!
I really wished I had thought of looking for something like this years ago. It's been a life & money saver!! It was easy to install and everyone helps keep pit filled. We've not noticed any odd or after taste. Our system [in our home] is, we have an under sink water filter, and we use that to fill a pitcher to pour into the reservoir - not that we have to do it that way, but it's what we preferred.Regarding the unit, it has worked great. Following the instructions, we removed the bottle support collar/piercing valve, put the unit together, placed it onto the water cooler, filled it up, and it worked great. We've been using it for about a couple of weeks now, and it's been wonderful! Such a money saver!

You got to try it to believe just how well it works
I had my doubts, but this filtration water performs really well. The assembly is straight forward (assuming you read the instructions- and follow them) takes about 5 minutes to put together and by that point I had figured out just how well the filtration system was going to work. Things I really love about this item.1. It holds about 2 gallons of water plus what your dispenser holds (mine 3.5 gallons total)2. Filtering it quick and no gurgling noises (always a plus)3. doesn't leak. does shift, you never feel like it's about to tip over (notice I don't have this around dogs, children, small demons)4. Water tastes like water and not charcoal or strange filtered water.5. Looks a lot better than those water jugs (which are a pain to get in anyway)There you have it, you want clean (no swimmers) water that tastes like water and not rocky, then this is the item for you (and me)

Great idea, executed well!
I love this product! I wanted a water cooler for along time but didn't want to deal with water delivery service or carrying/lifting heavy bottles, this seemed like a great solution. Like another reviewer I had a hard time separating the top half from the bottom half when it came out of the packaging - they were "suctioned" together and I needed help to get them apart. You need to soak the new filter for a half an hour: charcoal colored bits came out of it and I was concerned that it would get into the water but after the half hour soak and rinse all was clear. Our water tastes great with no chlorine/chemical odor. Filling the top every couple of days is easier to me than arranging for bottles to be delivered or remembering to put out the empties and have to lug in those heavy bottles. And with back problems there's no way would I be able to lift the bottle to put it on top of the cooler, so this is the perfect answer. I purchased it along with an Avanti hot/cold water dispenser unit Avanti WDP75 Hot and Cold Water Dispenserwhich unfortunately is defective (and the company has terrible customer service) so I've ordered a Clover cooler and hoping for better luck (and returning the Avanti.) The Greenway Water Dispenser Filtration System is a very smart idea, great design, and works well. And bonus, it is attractive and looks better on top of the cooler in my kitchen than the delivery bottles would.

Fine Product, TERRIBLE Packaging
I love this idea; it makes the water cooler kind of a hot-and-cold Brita pitcher that doesn't take up room in your refrigerator. The water tastes fine, and adding water to the tank every now and then is much easier than dealing with those heavy, heavy bottles. But one star off for the frustrating packaging. Like other reviewers, I simply couldn't get the two halves apart. Having read the reviews before I bought it, I was prepared for a certain level of difficulty. I didn't even try to get it apart until I had soaked it well in a sink of hot, soapy water. Even then I couldn't budge it.I worked at it for a week. I tried sliding a table knife down between the two halves to break suction. I poured dish soap carefully down as far as I could between them. I used those rubber grippy things to hold with. I slid the table knife between the halves, gripped the top half with the grippy things and tried to push down on the top of the table knife so the handle of the knife would push downward on the bottom half. Nothing worked. Finally my 40-year-old son-in-law came over and took his turn trying. We were both prepared for a healthy man in the prime of his life to succeed where a ...um... somewhat older woman had failed. He couldn't get the two halves apart either. This is what finally worked: my efforts with the table knife had pretty well torn up the plastic the two halves of the tank were wrapped in, so son-in-law removed nearly all of it. There was some he couldn't reach, but he got all he could. He put more dish soap between the two halves. Then he used the grippy things to hold on tightly to the top half while I pulled on the bottom half. And suddenly the two halves slid apart. As everyone else has noted, from there on everything became easy. It was no trick to assemble the thing, it's easy to fill it, and it works very well. I'm happy with it. But don't kid yourself into thinking that getting the two halves apart will be easy or straightforward. The manufacturers really, really need to work on the packaging problem.

Don’t waste your money!!! Bad design
I was so looking forward to using this instead of buying water dispenser bottles. I got it all assembled and the bottom piece that is supposed to go into the water cooler is way too big. They say this fits all Vitapur water dispensers. Well obviously all but the one vitapur i have! The bottom piece should be the same size as the neck of the water jug (2-1/4”). It’s not! It’s 3-3/16”. That’s like trying to fit a square plug in a round hole. It’s not rocket science! The manual says to remove the bottle support collar if it doesn’t fit. Well that leaves the water reservoir open to contaminates and the water dispenser doesn’t sit securely on the water cooler. The engineers who designed this shouldn’t even be designing a tinker toy!
