Awesome Japanese light-weight backpacking stove with excellent flame control.
I had high expectations for this stove, and it absolutely delivered. There were 3 reasons I ultimately decided to buy this stove: 1. Made in Japan - Soto has a great reputation for quality, performance, and dependability. 2. Soto's micro-regulator - it works really well, and ranges from a very low heat for simmering, to a jet turbine engine on max. 3. The burner head - the wider diameter spreads the flame out, preventing the heat surface being concentrated in the middle of your pan/pot, and the "lip" around the burner head gives it some built-in wind resistance. I took this stove on a recent backpacking trip to a marine reserve on the North Island of New Zealand. I used it with my Pathfinder folding frying pan to cook steak & burgers for dinner, and the next morning to boil water for coffee and make pancakes. Very pleased with this purchase. The seller I selected was BIGFLY and they shipped it fast.

Generates more heat (BTUs) than comparably and bigger sized stoves
I didn't pay attention to BTUs until after buying this stove. This is an excellent and better than the 5 other stoves I have that are bigger. Compare the BTUs of the stoves you are considering. It will affect the amount of fuel you consume, the amount of fuel cannisters you consume (waste created), and how fast your water for coffee or dinner is ready. These things matter.

I bought it looking for a solid sturdy stove that I can use in my backpacking trips. I've been using several other brands over the last 30 years, so I knew what I was looking for. On the picture the stove looks perfect. Unfortunately the quality is very cheap, it doesn't look like it can last even one season. - The legs are flimsy and are easily bent when you open a stove. If you need to boil a pot of 3-4 liters, it may present a challenge for this stove. - The metal braided hose is very flexible. Usually in known brands you feel that the braid is very solid and hose doesn't get bent easily. This is done for a reason, so internals are well isolated from external forces. Not the case with this stove. - Valve. Unfortunately this turned to be the cheapest part. It takes a few solid turns to open the gas. Initially I thought it is broken and doesn't let the gas out. It also has a redundant o-ring on the outside rim that makes me thinking that stove was assembled from the ready parts that may not be a good fit one to each other. The summary: I cannot trust this stove in multiday backpack trips, waste of money. And I just now realized that this item is non-returnable, so I am stuck with it. For the warranty case you will need to mail the item to Japan at your expense. Might be cheaper to buy a new and better one.

Fantastic stove. It works in all weather and boils water really quickly because of the large burner head. The micro regulator really helps it to work in cold weather

Fantastic stove! Packs away small into its own little carry bag. The control/regulator is very nice and offers a wide choice of heat. Doesn’t have a built in igniter but the msr clicker lights it easily and plenty of room in the carry bag for it. Works well in the wind and the cold.
