Pleasantly surprised by the laser hair remover!
Design: Sleek design with a really elegant color scheme and helpful light indicators of blue, green, and red. The laser is wired and plugs straight into a regular wall outlet, but it is super portable - so anywhere you have an outlet, you can laser! The laser face is wide and rectangular, capturing much of the face and making it an efficient process. Function: The laser is extremely bright. It resets very quickly, so you can move along your skin quickly. The attachment for the face works great and actually forms against my facial features very well. Process Observations: Doing your legs DEFINITELY takes more than 10 minutes. That being said, it was able to go faster than one that I have previously tried. Although the light is super bright when it flashes, it doesn't hurt or burn. I was able to use it multiple times a week, rather than the suggested once-a-week protocol. Results: Lasering the facial hair really helped to slow the growth of those pesky under-chin whiskers and fine mustache hairs. The leg growth was less obvious, but it definitely slowed the growth somewhat. It will take longer and more applications to know if it would remove the hair completely, but it seems like consistency is key. I would recommend shutting your eyes or wearing sunglasses while lasering as it is really bright.

SmoothSkin Bare Fit IPL
Guess I gotta keep it short and simple. Gets hot and increases the risk of burns but doesn’t remove hair or it doesn’t recognize my hair.

Reviews are comical at best
Complete disclosure, I am only doing an initial review at this point, meaning that I am evaluating whether this product performs the way it 'should', according to the included manual/instructions. Essentially every review thus far is not helpful since this product clearly states that results will take at least 12-weeks and I am certain that not one single review is more than 12-weeks old at this point. I defaulted my review to 4-stars based ONLY on the fact that this product 'behaved' pretty much exactly how the included instructions specified. In my case, I am testing this out with some upper arm hair (above the biceps & just below the shoulder, on each arm) to see if there is actually any reduction in growth. Pictures seem like they would be helpful here but no. Before using this on any area, you are supposed to shave that area first, so pictures wouldn't really help because any area being tested must be shaved beforehand. I have only used this once at this point, which means one week because you are not supposed to use it more than once per week. Tomorrow will be my second use, but the product clearly states to give it at least 12-weeks so I plan on giving it 12-14 weeks, then waiting another two weeks or so to see if my upper arm hair is truly reduced or not. This is NOT a product for the impatient and anyone reviewing this product prematurely without disclosing exactly what I have, is just being insincere. I will say, first impressions are mixed. When I performed individual button presses on each area it at least felt like this product was doing something, however, there is also the option to hold down the 'trigger' and glide the device across the area you wish to 'treat' but in my testing, that didn't seem to work as well. My ultimate goal, should this product actually work, is to eliminate back hair so the 'hold down the button option' would be WAY better for me but when I tried that on my upper arm, it seemed very difficult to 'glide' the device in tune with how it was triggering the laser. That was pretty frustrating b/c if it glided well, I could have treated both 'upper arms' in 1/4 the time it took to do so with single button clicks. Anyway, I hate back hair so I fully plan to test this device thoroughly and then report honest feedback on real world results. If it sucks, I will be the first to say so, but I am really hoping it doesn't suck.

Flashes once per second
Review for Ultrafast IPL from SmoothSkin: The look and feel of this unit is really impressive. The book of warnings SHOULD be read... (I don't usually but did this one). This may or may not work, or work 100% for some people, even according to their own tests... See picture above from their user guide. Things I like: the cord is super long.. the unit is fairly easy to hold from any position and hold down the activation button... The head glides nicely over your skin... There is an additional head that cuts off the sides of the light so that you can pinpoint an area... The reason for this is because the entire head MUST be in contact with skin for the light to fire. It fires basically once per second as long as you are in constant contact with your skin. You may have to press "into" your skin a bit to get it to "be in contact". The area around the activation key lights up white when you are properly positioned... and red when you are not... Helpful, although you are really not "supposed" to be looking at the unit! LOL! Since it claims 10 minutes and done, I timed doing my lower leg.... between 2 and 3 minutes... so yeah, if you are really adept, you may be able to do all body parts in 10.... I'd aim for a more leisurely 15 minutes however. Another IPL product I have is SLOW ... really slow compared to this, so the once a second and unlimited flashes is a definite plus. My personal warning..... and they do advise as well... the head area may get HOT! Evidently, I had a couple areas on my leg that are more sensitive than the rest and felt like it almost burned me. Overall, though, I am fairly impressed with the product and will continue to use it.

Unique in a strange way
I check out a lot of IPL devices and I haven't seen one quite like this. Pros =FDA cleared, which most do not list =unlimited flashes =includes one filter Cons =only lists 4J power while upwards of 19J is seen on other ones =doesn't include safety glasses =no LCD when LCD is typical =#1 / Says only 18W which is the nearly lowest W I've seen which is quite disappointing for a $100+ The lower the watts, the longer it takes to see results. 36W is the typical LOWEST I've ever seen until this. 12 weeks vs. 8 (36W). =Doesn't mention =Over $100
