Good machine, but bad foot rests
I consider myself an amateur rower, only really used a Concept 2 last year at my gym, but decided I wanted my own rower at home to get in cardio when it's too hot outside. I shopped around a lot, did tons of research, and decided to go with this model due to Diamondback's reputation and the Concept's price point (I really couldn't justify $1K on a machine I won't use every single day). Shipping was quick, and assembling the machine was a breeze. I only had one issue during assembly, with one of the rubber stoppers floating around in the box and I didn't really know where it went since they were pre-installed, but when I got onto the machine, I quickly realized where it went (it isn't in the instructions at all), though I never hit the stoppers anyway (I'm 5'10", so the machine is plenty big enough). So far, the only real problem I've had is the foot rests and straps. Firstly, the straps come loose about every 200-300M. So when I come forward, I have to quickly tighten them so I don't lose my rhythm. Like I said, I'm an amateur, so maybe I'm not rowing the best, but the straps definitely come loose. Which leads to the biggest issue, and the reason I docked 3 stars from this item, though I really should drop it to 1, because the foot rest (the part where your heel sits) broke on the left side at only about 800M into my first session. I don't row violently or whip around either, so I was pretty shocked when it just clean snapped on me. I wrapped it in duct tape and kept going, but even that slipped off after about 2KM, so I had to just screw a metal plate on the back of the heel rest to keep it sturdy. That seemed to work fine for the second row, until I hit 1300M and the RIGHT one broke too! Luckily, I had another metal plate and some screws, so I slapped one on that side and kept going. However, if I didn't happen to have little metal plates, screws with nuts, and a drill at home, this machine would have been useless after only 800M. So in less than a total 3000M, both foot rests broke. There are some row machines that literally see millions of meters and never need a part replaced. I'm super unimpressed with the quality of the footrests. That all being said, the machine is very well-built (all the metal parts, at least). I enjoy rowing on it, though I do wish there would be more airflow from the drum directed toward my body, but it's a nicety, not a necessity. The display is absolutely difficult to decipher (and requires an outlet, and isn't powered from rowing for some reason), but since I'm just a novice, I put it on manual mode and crank up the difficulty to 7 (I think it goes to 20).As of writing this review (4 June 2018), I submitted registry for warranty on Diamondback Fitness' website, but I'm awaiting confirmation so I can then begin to order new foot rests. Until then, I'll continue to use the machine when I can, but I don't know if I'll be able to recommend it to anyone due to how flimsy those plastic foot rests are. If the foot rests HADN'T snapped, this would have easily been 5 stars.Edit: It's been two weeks since I posted this review, registered on Diamondback Fitness' website, and requested new parts, but I have heard absolutely nothing from them. I will be dropping this another star because that's absolutely pathetic customer service.Update 31 July 2018: I contacted Diamondback Fitness through Amazon and they responded saying they would send replacement footrests and send me a tracking number as soon as they were sent out. I never got the tracking number, but new footrests showed up about a week later. They were pretty easy to install, though no instructions came in the box. I've only used the machine twice since then and put a few kilometers on it with no issues so far. Will continue to update this review if I have any problems!Update 29 January 2019: I forgot to include another update in the last 6 months, but the machine works great and the new footrests are working fine. I row 2-3 times per week doing HIIT exercises, so I'm putting in some serious work on the machine and I've had no problems. For giggles, I tried out the max setting (20) and I couldn't even make it 30 seconds without nearly dying. I stick with 10-12 most of the time. I think my only concern now is that this machine sits high. I have never fallen over because it's a sturdy machine, but I just wish it was a little lower to the ground. I suppose it does make it easier to get on and off though considering it's height. Additionally, my heels rub a bit during the exercise when I wear minimal shoes, so I stick with normal sneakers and that helps tremendously. If you're in the market for a row machine and you don't want to spend $1000 on a Concept or $200 on a crappy machine, spring for this one. Diamondback has a good reputation with fitness equipment, and will respond to your issues quickly if you just email them.

Great Rower if it Worked
If this unit worked, it would have been a great rowing machine. Unfortunately, my unit was broke and after contacting the factory, they sent me a replacement LCD. That didn’t resolve the E2 error the machine had from day 1, so after contacting the factory again, they told me it’s probably the motor. From there, the manufacture went silent so I had to ship it back. This item is a discontinued item so I would be careful buying it.

Smooth and provides multiple levels of resistence.
Does everything i wanted out of it. Seat could be a little more comfortable but not an issue.

Boss, heavy duty rower with an extensive list of rowing programs at a tremendous savings.
Likes: - gym quality, heavy duty frame - excellent warranty through Diamondback Fitness (I verified this by calling the company) - easy to assemble and maintain - folds up easily into a locked storage position and reopens into it's operational position just as easily - easily maneuverable in it's storage position across my tiled floor - extensive number of programs on a bright, easy to read monitor with an adjustable angle of viewing - catch is positioned well for ease of access and seat height is a respectable 19 inches from the ground to the top of the seat - heart pumping, low impact, fairly quiet exercise machine that is built to last at a great price point ($549)Dislikes: - plastic parts on the footbeds are not as heavy duty but if you are rowing correctly and using your core muscles, not the foot straps, to pull yourself back the straps should be fine - monitor has to be plugged into AC and cord is only 6'3" longI've had the rower for 2 weeks and am very pleased with it's performance. I purchased the rower because I needed a low impact cardio workout alternative that I can use consistently despite having osteoarthritis in my knees, hip, neck and back. I like that it's a hybrid incorporating both air and magnetic resistance, automatically adjusting the resistance to each stroke I take. It's also mentally challenging as you really have to have your mind in the game to execute each segment of the rowing stroke well. I suggest that you do some research and learn how to row correctly to get the most out of your workouts and avoid injuring yourself. (Checkout the Training Tall rowing playlist on Youtube) I also suggest that you go to the Diamondback Fitness website and pull up the 910R manual to get a good sense of the programs this machine offers.
