Culture Club was one of the most successful British acts of the eighties. With major hit singles on both sides of the Atlantic, they had album sales in the millions across the globe. In 1984, fresh from winning Best New Act at the Grammys® and Best British Act at the Brits, and with their album "Colour By Numbers" going platinum around the world and hitting No.1 in over 50 countries, they took their live show to Australia for the first time. This concert was shot in Sydney by Channel 9 TV in front of a wildly enthusiastic sell-out audience, and perfectly captures the sheer excitement the group generated at their live shows. Tracklisting: 1. Take Control 2. Mister Man 3. Ill Tumble 4 Ya 4. Its a Miracle 5. Karma Chameleon 6. Black Money 7. Love Twist 8. Do You Really Want to Hurt Me 9. Church of the Poison Mind 10. Victims 11. Time (Clock of the Heart) 12. Miss Me Blind 13. White Boy 14. Thats the Way (Im Only Trying to Help You) 15. Melting Pot Bonus Features: Original Channel 9 featurette from 1984.

I'm still part of this "CLUB!!"
Of course when I saw there was another DVD of my band, I was smiling from ear to ear. Even though this concert was over 20 years ago, I still loved seeing Boy, Jon, Roy and Mikey in action singing those old tunes that Culture Club fans remember until this day. But as I watched, I thought that they were in a hurry, zipping through all the songs with little introduction and they didn't seem to engage with the audience as much as in KATO and even in their 20th anniversary at the Royal Albert Hall (which was awesome!) The Boy still looks good in this one and always will - even if he's old and bald now!! Another tidbit in the DVD was the featurette which was disappointing in my humble opinion. I expected an interview with the band just like in The Greatest Hits and Royal Albert Hall DVDs but all there was were images of them, which I've seen a million times, someone narrating, saying what I already knew and very very brief comments from George, Jon and Roy only, where was Mikey? I was left wanting more but anyway this is a good memory of Culture Club to have if you're a fan. I'll be waiting on more DVDs to pop up along the way, hopefully some with more interviews rather than just a show. They have voices not only to sing, they have something to say too!!!

Great show, incredibly bad video quality.
George and the Club are fantastic performers. The DVD is full of glitchy artifacts that totally distract from the concert and looks incredibly cheap and amateurish."A Kiss Across the Ocean" was well shot with no technical hiccups. This production is a glaring downgrade, and Culture Club deserved much better.

Fun music to listen too
I never realized what great vocals George Alan O'Dowd has and still has, there are bands that only sound good on their albums like The Stone Roses, but Culture Club surpassed my expectations on what happens when in concert, there music was always up- beat feel good music, I guessed that's why I was always a fan of the music, and a fan of Mr. O'Dowd because he never let his politics get involved in his music. Great DVD to bad there are not many other concert videos of their performances...

TREAT YOURSELF
I just finished watching this DVD. Ahhhh, what fun, being transported back in time. The concert was taped in Australia, and is a mirrored image of what was going on at the time in the USA.Culture Club mania! If you saw their shows, you will enjoy this . (Georgehas three costume changes) so glad the powers that be decided to releaseit on DVD, I think you will be too. This should be put in a time capsule so future generations can see thatonce upon a time we had an open mind and heart. Looking at this today, it's hard to believe the Boy everexisted, especially at the this level.

George live in Sydney
I purchased this DVD because this concert was the first ever concert I attended as a 15 year old. It's in my collection for reasons of nostalgia, rather than musical reasons. It's like looking at old photos. Mikey Craig's hair should have it's own credit and Helen Terry was Culture Club's secret weapon for three albums.

Excellent show
I try to collect all I can on Boy George. It was great to see this show from Australia. I loved his look back then. This video is was great to watch for the footage and more. This was great to see just for the songs. If you have seen "A Kiss Across The Ocean" by Culture Club, you will enjoy this dvd too.
