Jericho: Season 2

The title is a bit misleading
The story line is good, but the title is a bit misleading. It's not actually a "Season 2". It's the last few episodes of the series, but the story line is slightly altered. I enjoyed the small changes just as much as I enjoyed the original ending.

Not nearly as great as Season 1, but still worthy of being great
When a new little series about a nuclear holocaust was scheduled to appear on CBS, I was doubtful that it would capture my interest, nonetheless the interest of the general TV viewing public. However, being a little curious, I opted to invest some time on Wednesday nights to watch. Needless to say, I was not disappointed. Jericho quickly became my new favorite TV show and something I eagerly awaited each week, which says a lot seeing I don't normally look forward to TV shows. However, with most people being too inept to understand anything more than reality TV shows, the ratings plummetted and the show was cancelled after season 1. But, it was not gone for good, as a passionate and loyal fan base urged CBS to bring it back. Thus, Season 2 was produced.Ending at Season 1, the show had to drastically change its focus. Rather than being a small town "lost" in the wilderness, Jericho became a town caught in the midst of a newly formed country, the "Allied States of America". In contrast to the United States (which still exists east of the Mississippi), the Allied States is more controlling, using an extended version of the Patriot Act and torture to often get its way. Making matters worse, the country's military force is Ravenwood, a government defense contractor similar to Blackwater that has negative ties toward Jericho in Season 1. Now, Jericho residents are caught in the balance with the decision of whether to accept the new government or resist it. I will not give away the ending, but will hint that it is leading towards the beginnings of revolution.Overall, Season 2 was not nearly as good as Season 1, but it was still good to watch and offered closure. Only 7 episodes were filmed in Season 2 because of the writer's strike and CBS opting for a mid-season run, but they are all, for the most part, very action packed and move the storyline along. I was a little disappointed that several of the characters did not maintain powerful roles (i.e. Jake's Mother). Additionally, I felt that, between Season 1 and Season 2 in the Jericho world, too much information and modern technology was gained (i.e. knowledge of the bombed cities, cell phones and electric grid technology). But, in the end, I am glad CBS opted to run with these episodes. I would highly recommend Season 2 to Jericho fans, as well as recommend Jericho to anybody curious.

Only 7 Episodes? And no Ending?
Jake: Isn't this something you should be covering?Journalist: Nah, Cheyenne [the new capital of the western states] doesn't like incidents like this covered. They control my credentials.Jake: What the hell kind of reporter are you?Journalist: The working kind....Jake: So nobody's reporting the real news, that gets you off the hook.Journalist: I used to work for the LA Times before the attacks, I won two Pulitzers, so I got a pretty good idea about what it means to be a journalist, and they don't exist anymore....Journalist: People get the news they deserve....Journalist: When I was a kid, two guys took down the White House with a typewriter because people listened. They got angry, they acted. If I thought anybody was willing to listen, believe me, I'd be talking.Heh. And they call this fiction. In the years since the show was broadcast, we've learned that the above is true regardless of who is in office. The show's as good as the previous season, which, since this is a continuing story, you'll need to watch first. However, the story comes to no resolution in either version of the final episode (which only differ in where one of the characters end up.)

Excellent video series
I am not adding a photo and find it annoying that you seem to find it necessary that in order to post a review that one "MUST" include a photo of said product.

Great story that at least had somewhat of an ending when cancelled
I watched season one and two back to back, and was interested in the escalation of events over the two. While season one was just the act of making it through the next day, season two introduces the element of the Allied States of America, a power that has taken control over a good portion of the US. The characters find out in the season what is actually going on in the world around them. The US has been split into several governments after a well orchestrated terrorist plot setup by multiple interests such as business, and government players. Things are so bad the UN is involved in keeping the sides form all out war. Our main character has gone from being simply a help to the town into helping form a resistance to what is happening around him.No spoilers here, but suffice it to say that at least there is some closure written into the script before cancellation, allowing us to have a some sense of the characters getting justice, but I would have liked to see where it developed in a third season. Great buy to finish the season.

DVD's played ok but DVD case was damaged in shipping.
Got the DVD's for Jericho Season Two in via USPS this morning.A simple lightly padded mailer was used. When I opened the mailer, there was damage visible to the case (see photo). After opening the DVD case, one of the DVD's fell out as it had come loose from the holder inside. Light scratches are visible on the DVD that was loose within the case.Wife has been binge watching all afternoon to make sure the DVD is viewable with the light scratches. No problems.I suggest the seller use a better mailer to make sure DVD case are less prone to being damaged.

great movie
I liked both seasons. Its an interesting movie of what could have happened if we had lost all power and nothingwith a modern motor was working. God forbid it ever happen to us. We have advanced so much in technology and sciencethat it would be extremely hard to do without it now. Few people have hunted meat for food nowadays and first you have to find the animals and be a good shooter. And growing food from the ground takes weeks, months, years and you can starve in the meantime.

...and so it ends...
I didn't know anything about Jericho, hadn't even heard of it until I saw an advert for the first season DVD release. It looked good and reading up about it sounded like a great idea for a TV series, so into my shopping basket it went! I wasn't disappointed! This is a great apocalyptic adventure series with equal parts action and drama and isn't too heavy considering the subject matter. However it is yet another high quality series that has been cancelled just when it was only scratching the surface of it's potential! This second season was a result of a massive fan campaign to conclude the show, so we have seven episodes that continue on from the end of the first season and at the same time introduce a new story arc that unfortunately is a little too big to confine within the seven episodes. It's a story that needed a lot more episodes to explore and expand its scope. That said however the quality and pace of this second season is top notch and as good as the first season, most of the characters return and appear somewhere along the line, with an especially welcome return for D. B. Sweeney's character Goetz, who's character featured all too briefly in season one. There are plenty of twists and surprises and before you know it you've reached the final episode, which tries to wrap up all the loose ends in a mere 40 minutes, which is nowhere near sufficient enough time! It is extremely rushed, cramming in as much plot development as possible, and there are hints of closure at the end but the story can easily, and should rightfully, be continued for a third season, but the likelihood of this is unfortunately very very thin!
