What is not to like about absolute vodka it is bursting with raspberry flavour so it tastes delicious, it’s nice on its own or with lemonade great value for money.

A typically solid release from Absolut, who have carved out a good segment in the vodka market by producing a consistent product, well-judged to appeal to a reasonably wide range of requirements. Typically smooth, with a mouth-feel and consistency at the denser end of medium (without appearing oily), it's 'easy drinking' without falling into the trap of being boring. This new raspberry flavoured release is a case in point. Fool that I am, I didn't pay too much attention to the pictures in advance, with the result that I was expecting (and fearing the worst) it to be brightly coloured. Which of course it isn't -it's as clear as any regular type, the apparent shade coming from a cunningly positioned block of pink colour on the back of the bottle. A nice touch. The bottle itself is the usual solid, slightly squat offering with a decent screw-cap that can be a mite slippery if over-tightened. I've known far worse though, and the branding is subtle. Opening gives a subtle raspberry scent -it's not sweet, but leans in that direction, and this carries over to the flavour: gentle, definitely not acidic, very smooth, perhaps aided by the modest 38%ABV, and completely devoid of any kind of burn. Pleasant, inoffensive, but with enough about it to hold interest. Fine neat or over ice, it also works well with soda water and tonics, and may make an interesting (simple) cocktail base. For the money -well worth considering, and a very good option.

He probado varias vodkas saborizadas y esta Absolut RASPBERRI (38%) me ha sorprendido para bien por lo equilibrada que está. En nariz se nota una frambuesa marcada, más fruta roja que “caramelo”, y en boca entra suave: tiene un punto dulce, pero no se hace pesada si la usas en mezclas. La he usado sobre todo en vodka soda con lima, tónica y también en un raspberry mule (ginger beer + lima). En todos los casos el sabor de frambuesa se mantiene sin desaparecer, y el alcohol está bien integrado para ser 38%. Muy recomendable para quien quiere un toque frutal y limpio sin complicarse con siropes. Lo mejor • Sabor a frambuesa intenso pero bastante natural • Versátil: combina fácil con soda, tónica, limón/lima, ginger beer • Buena relación “calidad de sabor / facilidad” para cócteles en casa Nada a mejorar. repetiré.
