I wear a size 8+ in most hats, which means that a hat that's size 8 still leaves a red ring on my forehead and a size 8-1/8 sits down around my ears like I'm a kid wearing his dad's hat. This stretcher works great to stretch out a hat just enough to make it comfortable, but there are two small issues:First, you have to stretch it repeatedly. It works great, but eventually the hat goes back to it's old size. This isn't the stretcher's fault, but it's something you should know--if you wear several hats (as I do), you'll be repeatedly stretching each one before you use it. I could see buying several of these and leaving them in each time, but if you have more than a couple hats you're starting to talk a lot of cash.Secondly, it's not quite big enough. The threaded rods are just a little short, so to get a good stretch I have to unwind it all the way out to the point that it starts to come apart. Admittedly, I'm an edge case with my zeppelin-like head, but it's still frustrating.Over all it does what it sets out to do for the majority of people, but could have used just a couple more threads on the rods.

Received and looks to be much better quality than the previous one I purchased. Put in felt hat overnight and the stretcher worked well.

I have hated how all fitted baseball caps have gone to ‘universal’ sizing. I get it, it’s cheaper to manufacture, but if you find yourself at the upper limit of this universal fit it’s hard to get hats to fit well without days of headaches from the hat being too tight. Enter this lil gem! I accidentally over-stretched an older hat that was nearly perfect, but it snapped back to shape. My newer hats now fit great! I leave them on this in a rotation and swap them out when I want to wear one. No more sore head and deep elastic indents! Simple and effective tool for sure!

Outstanding, the StretcherMan hat stretcher works just as advertised. I have an Officers Class A visor service cap from my VietNam days. It had been in a box in a bag and over the years got scrunched from the articles of clothing it was in with. When I retrieved it from the box it would have fit a softball. I put the Stretcherman in the hat, turned the adjuster out to the desired size it used to be and left it for a week. Put it on yesterday...Found out I was now a relatively old man but the hat looks like new. Great Product, Great Price, would recommend it to anyone. Hats off to StretcherMan. (Works on felt hats also). Terrific!!!!!

Works as advertised. I have stretched a Toquilla fedora, a beaver felt fedora and now a wide-brimmed canvas sun hat. Put a drop or two of machine oil on the threads both sides of the turn-buckle (the thing you twist to make the stretcher bigger and smaller). The wood is pine or another soft white wood and it's made in China. It is more than strong enough to stretch a hat.Instructions worked fine. I turned on the tea kettle and got it steaming. I put the stretcher in the hat as evenly as possible and put some tension on it. I put the outside of the hat in the stream of steam coming from the kettle and rotated the hat so the whole hatband area got hot and wet. I tightened the stretcher a couple of turns and then left it to dry. The stretcher can distort the shape of the brim, so don't try and stretch so much you are ruining the shape of the brim. Remember that fedoras, cowboy hats etc are molded into shape using steam, so you can ruin that shape with steam.I could not be happier with the results.

It wasn't big enough. Lucky I had a machinist fix it. We had gotten the biggest size available.

Works great and fit perfect in my hat, good quality too. if you wear fitted hats it’s definitely a must have tool.
