Nice heavy wood.
Very cool. Beats those marble, stone mortar and pestle's. When you grind two stones together you are making sand and you are adding it to your spices. That is not good. This mortar and pestle does not do that. This particular model is very nice very heavy has thick wood the pistol is heavy.When I received it, I washed it with soap and water an rubbed it with olive oil and let it sit overnight. Next day, most of the olive oil had been absorbed by the wood. I would not recommend cleaning this with soap and water, as you wanted to become seasoned overtime.
