Red Lion RL-S50 115/230 Volt, 1/2 HP, 2940 GPH Self Priming Cast Iron Surface Effluent Pump, Red, 621810

This pump be great if used in an application where the possibility of ingesting a foreign object is remote. This pump was used to dewater waste water collection drums at a factory. No strainer was used, and a large metal object was ingested which stopped the impeller cold, the resulting momentum was transferred to the casing bolts which were ripped out of the front volute. The floating design of the motor, while providing quiet operation provides no support to any sudden stoppage of the impeller by a foreign object.I would recommend it for those low cost applications, provided it is protected by a strainer. We are attempted to epoxy the volute to reattach the mounting bolts. I will update the post when completed.

It did not work on arrival. Cost more to send it back than repairing it. The motor had to be re-wound. The product is in Barbados

Had a little hard time keeping this pump primed. Losses it prime once in a while. Works well when pumping effluent.

pump does not have continuous suction after very short usage, total of less then 20 hours.

Once I had the intake pipe securely fixed , and a foot valve in the septic tank it has worked very well( pumps effluent approx 20 feet vertical) to septic field.

Same pumps from retail just half the proce. Whats not to love.
