Thrash metal gets a real boost by one of the most powerful bands out there
I bought both "Nightmare Logic" and its predecessor "Manifest Decimation" at the same time, so I'll review both. Power Trip are making a lot of waves in metal circles and for good reason. For those who love the first initial thrash wave that started with the Big 4, Overkill, Testament and a few other pioneers who took the speed and attack of Judas Priest (the true godfathers of thrash) up a couple notches, added some punk/early '80's hardcore, and for the time offered the heaviest metal you could get. Now, with thrash's beginnings going back arguably thirty years, if you give Priest and Motorhead their due, the genre has given us death metal and unfortunately deathcore and metalcore minus the chops. But there are new generations who have obviously worshipped the old guard, and Power Trip is doing a bang up job of revitalizing the style. While there isn't an awful lot here that's new, we get however an energy and excitement that frankly is serving notice to all comers that this band means business.Sonically, the rough and reverb laden vocals fall somewhere between the late Paul Baloff, who was Exodus' first vocalist on their legendary "Bonded By Blood" and Possessed vocalist Jeff Becerra. Guitars are heavy as hell, vocalist Riley Gale provides the gruff but not grunting vocals, and the drums are (hooray) not just an incessant barrage of drum triggers and blast beats. In fact, Power Trip, like those bands of yore they adore, understand the importance of dynamics and how playing less at the right times adds to the groove and power rather than obliterates it. Lead breaks are fast and furious, but not overdone. No prog overtones here.Probably the most important thing I'm taking away from these two albums is the vibe and pure fury that puts both these albums in the company of some of the greatest metal albums ever, in terms of ferocity and chops to boot. If you are going to call your band Power Trip you better not be kidding, and they are not. They have released two albums that are as great as:Metallica "Kill 'Em All" PT don't do the longer tunes, but they nail the vibe from this album.Slayer "Reign In Blood" This classic may not have peers in thrash, or even a lot of death metal albums, but Power Trip come mighty damn close.Exodus "Bonded By Blood" One of thrash's most underrated albums. PT soars with their twin guitars.Pantera "Vulgar Display of Power" The excitement and devastating delivery has yet to be surpassed, but I couldn't help but notice that Power Trip may just have come close enough for a photo finish. For those who've been waiting for real thrash to make a huge comeback and are sick of the talentless and hookless crap like Asking Alexandria, Acacia Strain and other outfits who can't really play, Power Trip will be a great band to celebrate. Let's hope they keep it up because it may just be a catalyst for metal bands to start to return to something that approaches real music.

Pure adrenaline
I don't care much for labels, or musical categories. I've always had a love of music in general. Punk, Metal, Hip-Hop, Classic rock, Country, Classical, Jazz. Those are the categories that are general enough, with some crossover, that I need to know.I know now there are all these subgenres within metal, grindcore, death metal...whateverLet's just say, wherever Power Trip fit in, they are riff heavy, powerful and one incredible band. This album is a masterpiece from start to finish.I'm so glad I got to see these guys right before the pandemic. Riley Gale was the ultimate vocalist with incredible stage presence. Pure energy. He left us way too soon.If your into any metal, and it's various genres, along with some hard-core punk, or you just like powerful music , this is it

Good Solid Rock
What a cool band and what rock/metal should sound like. I will be using this disc for personal consumption daily.I had their song on my cellphone being "Executioner's Tax (Swing of the Axe)" and this is perhaps one of their hit number's. (song). I like the rhythms and the vocals is strong with this title as one could say it 'stands out in the crowd', no doubt. This is the way rock and roll should sound like after all these years since 1950's. What a good Jem this title is. Awesome. I am not disappointed. 👍😎👍💥

A band and an album you need to know.
Awesome classic sound to it. Love how the CD almost has a vinyl sound. Definitely glad I gave these guys a listen. I thought this was even more impressive than the previous release. Only because I purchased them both at the same time, & played them back to back. Even though my familiarity with Power Trip is limited, considering these albums been out a few years & I'm just now enjoying them. For fans of old skull heavy thrash metal, definitely check these guys out.

Not the best pressing
This isn't an audiophile 180g edition, but it IS black, which is better for sound quality.Awesome album. Just wish the vinyl pressing/mastering was better.

Like the 80's greats formed a supergroup
Imagine if you took a set of unreleased Slayer songs circa Reign in Blood... and had a band made up of Dave Mustaine, Dimebag Darrell, Tom Araya, and Lars Ulrich record them... that would give you an idea of the greatness of this album. Overall, the song structure and intensity just reeks of Slayer and that's a good thing. The musicsmanship is waaaay up there on the execution. But it never feels like a Slayer ripoff or tribute album! There are so many great touches here. There are times where you get that feeling of Metallica, where it is restrained and they are focused on just hammering away and progressing the song in a classical fashion. Then you get the Dave Mustaine "careering towards a cliff with a bottle of Jack and a speedball in me" guitar work, like something right out of "Rust In Peace". And then from nowhere will come these groovy guitar riffs ala DD. It's just a really solid release. I thought this genre had its last gasp of brilliance in the early 90's (though "Repentless" is a mighty fine album) and had been done to death... but I was wrong. Thank you Power Trip for such a solid release. I hope to catch you guys on tour.J.Ja
