This pen has a 100% aluminum shell, with the light weight metal keeping the pen at 1.25 ounces (a pen from the Sheraton that I have here weighs 0.30 ounces). The cap screws on one end, keeping the ballpoint pen covered, and when removed can be pushed into place on the back of the pen, keeping the sharper aluminum tip covered. The pen itself is a rollerball model that runs smoothly without skips and requires very little pressure. I'm easily annoyed by pens that require too much effort, so I appreciated the smooth line of ink without any such requirement. In the meantime, you've got a blunt and sharp aluminum point available when the pen is closed. These can be used as a weapon, to knock out a car window if you're stuck, or to take out an aircraft window if you end up stuck there. I haven't had to do any of those things, but in the meantime it's kind of nice to have a tactical pen available in the car should I suddenly find myself needing it. The body of the pen appears to be quite strong, and efforts that I made to bend or break it failed.

I was looking for a tactical pen that didn't scream TACTICAL and this is much more discreet than others. However, the ability to keep a firm grim upon impact suffers. The clip is well made and strong (a problem I read about many other tactical pens) so I try to keep one finger above the curve in the clip which helps. The other design issue is with the cap. You need to unscrew the clip end to expose the ball point. The cap is not designed to snap in place over the glass breaker tip. It will fit over it, but is only kept in place by tension and will scratch the finish over time. Also, It is a little long (or the clip placement is higher than it should be) so it doesn't fit well in some of my standard button down shirt pockets.

Of all the tactical pens I've researched, this one had the look and feel I was looking for. It looks more like a pen than a weapon. Thankfully, I’ve only had to use this for writing for which it works nicely.

After purchasing several of these tactical pens, I find that this is the best so far. All of these pens are a compromise,either too fat, too heavy, too long, or too many gadgets.However this one is the best compromise so far. It is about exactly same size as any ball point pen. It is slim, and short enough to fit in a shirt pocket, and light enough to be comfortable to carry. It doesn't have a flashlight, fire starter, survival kit or handcuff key, but does what is is supposed to do. It writes well and can be a great last ditch survival instrument, should you need it. The only negative, is that once you unscrew the cap to use the pen, there is no place to put it. I will not fit on the other end, so you have to hold it while writing. Not a deal breaker. Highly recommended.
