Star and Planet Combinations Paperback – April 4, 2008

This is a really nice addition to any serious astrologer's library, and it is that extra bit of information (as Bernadette points out in her book) which can bring the big clue to push a reading in the right direction. Fixed stars in a horoscope are for many humanistic astrologers like pulling a tarot card at the last minute before a reading - unless of course someone has one of the four major stars longitudinally conjunct one of their planets, and the whole chart is screaming some exact same thing! I mean, in that case, it would just be redundant to go searching through Brady's book on Star and Planet Combinations to find something interesting to find out about our client. Unless of course we want to be further bowled over. What I especially like about this book is that even the star Algol, which is said to be the wickedest star in the heavens, has something decent to say about itself. If there is a bad, there is always a possible good. Pretty sure that's the way it works. Even so, there is no sense in sugar coating something that could potentially really suck. And usually the reason it sucks so much is because we already recognize that in ourself and are quite humiliated that even the stars know it.

I had a friend who all his life was 'clashing' with everyone, from his being perfectionist, to a very envied position as a fortunate one in a wealthy family, and socialite - most thought it was just his lot, or he was just a bit of a 'pain' to deal with. Not so - Brady's fixed star chart and interpretation of this friends more fatalistic or 'emphasized' stars in that chart showed this 'one who clashes with people' was not an accident, but a destined part of his path, or at minimum, something now pointed out to him and now conscious. Since this awareness (thanks to me handing him Brady's fixed star chart, and my pointing this out to him), he's been more pleasant to communicate with. He's grown, in consciousness, he's had a mirror to refect upon and improve that aspect of his life. I know a girl who's extremely jealous, to the point of having serious conflicts. Her main star angle on the moment, and also later in the chart parans Mars? Algol - and with the knowing that she can become so jealous it can cause her time in jail or prison, or legal problems, to say the least. Upon hearing this, she admits to a few fights over this, and begged to have help in overcoming 'jealousy'. Her passionate nature is a joy, but sensual pleasures can be her undoing and point of caution, if not bridled and consciously checked. Such insights and revelations, and far more can be gained with Brady's works, and the astrology of 'fixed stars' - often neglected and little known about by so called 'modern' and 'professional' astrologers, but a SUPER important part of the Soul's nature, reflected in the heavens, and our everday lives. A map of the way to self knowledge, and greater purpose in the Soul's Journey. Highly and strongly recommended - a must have for any astrology library or astrofile, a practical mystics treasure.

I was happy to see this book available on Amazon because as a student sincerely interested in Astrology I had been looking for a book to unveil for me the mystery about Fixed Stars, their mythological background, and how they tie in with our own natal planets, further enhancing the understanding of oneself, and that of famous people too.This book by Bernadette Brady defines each combination of planet and star with thrilling new meaning and insight.The reader's mind will unfold and bring advanced thought to this deeper side of Astrology.

I would consider Bernadette Brady one of the top astrologers of our day. This book is concise, to the point and adds information not readily found in other books. If you are a serious astrology student, this is a must have.

wanted this book for years. GREAT! One of kind. If you look online on this subject this book is ALWAYS quoted! Worth the money.

Bernadette Brady has a knack of setting up the information she's giving you, so that you clearly correlate her premise with her conclusion. So that when you are attempting to put information together yourself, in my opinion, you have an easier time getting to your own conclusions as well. Well done, thanks!

Very brief descriptions of star symbology, but includes parans to planets Mercury through Pluto plus North Node. Heliacal Rising and Setting tables are useful, but locus data for some 286 stars are readily discovered through sites such as astro-seek.com, and astro.com provides more fixed star data re parans and planet-star aspects than does Brady, whose book is an interesting read but rather pricey given today's availability of online resources ...

Brady herself is a school of thought. A great thinker of modern times on stars and parans. This is one such text where you get a deeper and separate understanding than the usual fixed star interpretations. One of the most valuable additions to the literature of fixed stars apart from Robson and Ebertin.

Definitely one of the best books combining the planets and stars - actually the best book of it's genre. (or something like that).All her books are very good especially the one on Chaotic Astrology.
