I installed the Extreme Dog Fence system about 2 weeks ago, while it was a little time consuming it took about 4 hours, I am ecstatic with the end results for my 150 pound mastiff. I was a little bit worried about the training, and made several calls for reassurance to the manufacturer, who I must say was absolutely amazing, even answering there phone on a Sunday big shout out to Johnny Allen who really gave me amazing advice and instructions and showed a whole lot of patience. It took about 10 minutes for him to understand the dog fence flags where to be avoided, after that it was just a matter of walking Brutus around the yard with a leash, Johnny instructed me not to let him off the leash prematurely, because the training was a conditioning process and although he appeared to be trained, long term success was based upon the proper length of training. We now let Brutus outside unattended for 4 to 5 hours a day, and he gleefully chases squirrels, he’s a big dog so he gets tired, and it’s so nice to see him lying in the sun and just enjoying life.Many of my friends told me it was cruel to use and electric dog fence, but I disagree whole heartedly….what is cruel is to leave a dog chained or cooped up in the house all day, Brutus is living a dream life doing what dogs should do…having fun and most importantly enjoying his freedom.I am a consumer of many products, and have dealt with customer support overseas, where I spend countless hours on the phone and rarely get my problem resolved or feel confident with the support I am given. It was an absolute breath of fresh air to get American based customer support and an American made product. Before buying I researched many different products on amazon and other websites but picked extreme because of the many reviews I found and most importantly a company who would support me during the selection, Installation, Training and long term support. I am confident with the level of service I have received so far, that this won’t be an issue.Some highlights from my experience1. Outstanding knowledgeable customer service and support2. Great price and great kit. However a couple of issues and reason for 4 stars and not 5. The Surge protector that is including has a major issue and required a call to their excellent support at flexpetz.com. The quick connecters on the surge protector are junk and do not hold the wires well, so much so that I called and got a replacement because it did not make good contact. The replacement now works but the quick connects are not made well and if you so much as bump the wires they will disconnect and cause an alarm to sound. I ended up taking apart the one that was broken/replaced and noticed the flaw on the terminals and I am going to solder the wires inside to the terminals so they will be secure going forward.The second issue, is regarding the documentation, while it is overall pretty good, they mention several websites extreme dog fence dot com which at the time was flakey but as of this writing is up again. Anyway the best site for support is flexpetz which appears to be their parent company.On to the good stuff...Amazing bit of kit for the price, we almost spent $2200 for invisible fence to install the same thing we got here for $300. The amount of wire was perfect for my 1.25 acre lot but I do recommend getting more stakes as the 10 included is simply not enough.The 14 gauge wire is fantastic and will last for years to come. I highly recommend if you burring it to rent or use an edger, another option which is great is to install with the staples above ground which is nice if your running it along edge of woods out of the way, this is possible because of the 144 gauge wire.Also I like the fact you can adjust the range of the alert field. I guess that's it, good purchase you will be happy with for years to come, yes a bit of hard work getting it buried but once its done you can enjoy your $2000 savings!

I did a lot of research before deciding on this particular dog fence. My German Shephard mix is a very smart dog, and she figured out how to push up our chain link fence to get underneath it and visit all the neighbors at our new house. After we'd repaired that fence a couple times, I realized it was time to purchase a better deterrent because the chain link fence was never going to cut it with houdini dog.Reasons I choose this brand:1. Price was competitive.2. Included the thicker wire and lightening protector, rather than nickel-and-diming you for buying those kind of basics.3. Very adjustable - both in distance from the fence and also strength of the correction on the collar.4. It came with twisted wire which was very convenient.I was surprised how easy it was to set up this system. I did run it along the bottom and then the top of a section of chain link fence to separate the front and back yards. This resulted in a slightly wider boundary from the fence than the rest of the yard, which did not bother me because this was the section of fence my dog kept digging under and pushing up. The electronics were easy to set up and the programming was simple to understand.I installed this system about a month ago and my stubborn houdini dog has not escaped the yard since. Also I was impressed the company called and followed up with me to see how the installation went and offer advice if necessary. Great customer service!

We have only just started training our dogs with it so I can’t comment on the effectiveness although it does work as advertised. Everything shown on amazon was exactly what we received. We did 1500 ft of it so the trenching was a bit of work but otherwise very easy to install.

keeps both our Goldens In the yard at the cabin. It’s so nice being able to let them out and not have to worry about them terrorizing the neighbors.

It was easy to install and it works great...keeps my 2 Bernese Mountain Dogs at bay...it was a life saver!
