Solid book but needs updating
Loads of the prices for admission into ruins, museums and other points of interest listed in the book are outdated. The actual prices are about 2 to 3x the amount. So beware when planning a day out as most places still only take cash. Otherwise book is sound in addition to online travel blogs.

Pretty comprehensive
Egypt is changing rapidly but still useful for the ancient parts which aren’t. Wait until the new mega museum in Giza finally opens.

Book arrived damaged
Very disappointed that a brand new book arrived with damage to the edges of the outer cover. I may as well have bought a second hand one and saved myself the money.

Received too late for my trip
Couldn’t use it for my trip.Seller 1 star, Lonely Planet 4 stars.I ordered it on October 4. It said it would arrive between October 20 and November 4.Amazon sent a shipment confirmation on October 6, but the shipping dates changed to November 8 and my neighbour received it on November 9.I went and buy one from the store.Gave this one to friends when I came back from my trip.Condition: The book was damaged like it has been thrown and bent.Content :As expected, some infos weren’t up to date since there are a lot of developments in the archeological field. For example, in Luxor, the 3km sphinx alley between Karnak temple and Luxor temple has been re-opened. I still love the Lonely Planet book for all the information on the prices, peculiarities for tourists, history and overall accuracy. The useful phrases weren’t all accurate, would suggest to adapt more to Egyptian Arabic.Note that the book has 10 pages on the Egyptian museum. This museum is in transition to move to a new museum, expected in 2023. So, expect to miss the sight of some famous exhibits. Luckily, the Gold mask of Tutankhamun was still there (no pictures allowed). It’s a big museum but it’s somehow a messy museum and a lot of the exhibits are missing descriptions. Still worth the visit. Don’t forget to go to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation; well organized, clean and wonderful museum. Will keep buying Lonely Planet books for my trips.
