Excellent product
This is one of my new favorite pieces of test equipment on my bench. A worthy upgrade to my previous HP6220B analog supply.I bought this RD6006PW and installed it in a separately purchased case/AC-DCsupply to make a full modern power supply. Since this is the "P" version (which seems to be a redesign of the original RD6006), it has lower ripple and more precision in reading voltages and currents. My preliminary tests so far indicate that this is indeed the case. See photos and explanations below. But first a few general observations... It came well packed and worked perfectly out of the box. I installed the (not-supplied) CR1220 clock backup battery and the wireless add-on board (supplied in the "PW" version I purchased), hooked it to the case/supply lines (purchased separately and in advance), and powered it up. I was greeted with a nice spash-screen and then the beautiful front panel information shown in the ad. The size of the readouts is good and the buttons have a nice feel. I had no trouble navigating how to operate it - perhaps since I have extensive lab experience and had viewed some YouTube reviews of Riden supplies in advance. In summary - this is a really nice supply with great precision and low ripple, just as I had hoped ! Many thanks to Riden for making this. Now here's the description of the photos:1) Front panel with V-set at 5V and 50 Ohm (measured at 51.3 Ohms with DMM) load resistor connected, showing how it reads out current (and power/etc.),2) A rear view of the board. This newly released RD6006P has a 2-stage design with a traditional SMPS buck converter (taking input from the 65V case supply) followed by a linear regulator.,3) The ripple at 50 mV/div AC (virtually nothing due to the linear regulator portion),4) 5V connected to a 10K resistor showing it reads currents well below 1mA which is very useful for the small-signal radio circuits I build, and5) A dynamic test of current limiting showing response time (V-Set at 5.2V, but with I-Set current limit at 50 mA - scope shows the initial 5.2V followed by the voltage foldback step when the resistor was connected. Scope set at at 500 ms/div).
