Hung by the Tongue: What You Say Is What You Get

So disturbing... please read!
Af first I really liked this book as a good reminder that words and thoughts need to stem from faith not fear. Then I was shocked at what I read in chapter 10 when the author loses all credibility in his poor theology and cult- like thinking...going so far as to cancel his health insurance and prays for his daughter’s “serious” illness rather than take her to the doctor!! (See photo) The fact that people are saying this is great Christian literature is scary. It is nothing short of abusive and untrue. To reject medical care for you child...!?! It’s also abusive to lead people to believe that positive thinking makes them heal and fear makes them sick. Yes, our positive thoughts and faith help us but we are all flawed humans who are unable to keep a perfectly pure thought life. The book was written in the 70s and now most churches are far more educated about physical and mental health, but how sad for people who’ve lost their lives, or thought it was their own fault that they are sick. (I’ve seen a healthy, beautiful woman in her 20s die of an easily treatable cancer with this type of misguided belief. I have a paralyzed relative believe who was told he could walk if he had faith. Sick!) Even though the ideas of thoughts and words being important are true, I don’t trust anything in the book with an author showed his disturbing interpretation of faith. It just goes to show that just bc someone is a pastor or author doesn’t make them a trustworthy source.

I didn't hate it, but I do take exception to the author's position that if you say it it will be so. There is a good message in the book, but it is also laced with an unfortunate message, one common in many Christian corners in today's preachings, that prosperity will come if you just ask God for it. That isn't how it works and we should be teaching truth rather than trying to call in folks with promises of healing and prosperity. (Not that they don't occur, but with the recognition that God answers our prayers according to His Will.)

What you say really is what you get.
I'd originally bought this book in 1992 and after almost 25 years of reading it the spine was broken, there were missing pages, and more notes than print on some pages. I was so relieved when I found it here on Amazon. Through this book I have come to learn that your life is absolutely guided and controlled by what comes out of your mouth. 100%, no doubt about it, period. Any and everything from the smallest matters to the most important issues in your life are being orchestrated and controlled by what you say. It's a fact as plain as can be that the power to guide and overcome the issues in your life are as simple as speaking about them and watching it then come to pass. I've witnessed it firsthand many times in my 45 + years. This book will explain how. A must have if you want to overcome the adversities that happen in this life. The Bible clearly states that "the power of life and death is in the tongue". There's several examples of people in the Bible saying very specific things and then those things coming to pass. Irregardless of your viewpoints on God and "religion", so to speak, it's still a universal law that the things you say come to pass. Now, that doesn't mean that if you say you're going to inherit a billion $ you will 60 seconds later, but I can personally testify that this is always in effect-for bad or good-so keep in mind the things you say because it will come back to you. I guarantee it.

Too many Christians are cancelling their prayers with their words. When you stop that, you'll get more answers. IMatthew 15:11 "Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man." God SPOKE everything into existence, and so should we!Blessings

What we say is absolutely what we get!!! But it gets deeper!
This book opens up some enlightening facts that "What you say, is truly what you get". From a spiritual standpoint it confirms the Word on a deeper level so you have no choice but to trust God at what He says! We live in the residual of what we think, feel, and ultimately what we say. Just take a real deep look at your life and check it with your words!

Great book to learn to understand the power of your words
Great book to learn to pay attention to what you say. The Bible says that the power of life and death are in the power of the tongue. But most of us use such negative words and don't even realize it.This book can help you understand. 👍

Thus might be one of the Best books I have ever read!
This is a book that should be read at least 4x a year! I did not even realize how Fear and Words can/will play an enormous role in one's life! Francis Martin breaks everything down into bite size pieces, to comprehend and apply in your life! He uses incredible selections of scripture, stories from the Bible, his personal testimony and humor in a way that all can understand and apply!I feel as though I am empowered after reading this book!!!Please read...and pass along to others...the more WE can ALL grow...the less power satan has and the MORE POWER God has in our lives!!

Excellent Book On The Power Of Your Words - Spoken and Thought!
Read this great little book in about 2 hours time. I would recommend this to anyone that wants to understand how our words impact our lives and how changing them can change where we go in life. I loved the fact that this is written from a biblical perspective. A little known fact (not from the book but from something I read previously), when an embryo starts to develop the tongue actually grows out of the heart.... a little bit of a hint to what this book gets into. Two tongues... ahh thumbs up!!!!
