My favorite gardener
I follow him on his youtube channel and his gardens are truly amazing. Organic gardening is the only way to go if you want healthy soil. His no dig methods have worked for me and I highly recommend his books. Always full of good advice.

Packed with useful information and advice
Charles know his trade well after working as a market gardener for many years, and it show in his knowledge and depth of all facets of growing vegetables and other crops. The book focuses on much more than no-dig, and has plenty of general information on all types of veggies, herbs, brambles, and tree fruits, but mostly veggies.

Great intro to no till gardening
I ordered this for my husband as a father's day gift & he's very happy with it. It's an introduction to no-till organic gardening & according to hubby, it's clear, detailed and very comprehensive.

SIMPLY THE BEST WAY TO GARDEN
This book is an excellent guide for starting a no-dig garden or converting an existing garden. This method is simple to implement, creates easy-to-maintain gardens, and allows even the busiest person to enjoy a fruitful garden! I’ve been a devotee of no-dig methosd for years, but struggled with the slug and snail habitat my different mulches created, and the resulting crop damage. Dowding’s compost mulching was the missing link for me.

The future
I belong to my local Community Gardening group and I have always tried growing vegetables using a type of 'No Dig', but it hasn't always been very successful. I was fortunate enough to attend a presentation given by Charles just over 13 months ago and was hooked into trying his methods. SUCCESS!!!I have 2 comments I'd like to pass on -1. Unless you have access to a LARGE volume of compost it may be expensive if you live a long distance from where your local council processes its 'Green Waste' (as I do), but it is DEFINITELY worth it!!! I ordered 4 cubic metres and it was enough for 40 square metres.2. It can be a lot of work moving the compost from where it can be dumped to where your plots are - mine were just over 200 metres away. The crop of potatoes was superb and so easy to harvest and the same was true of the squashes.I quietly smile tomyself as I see others digging eash year/rotatting their crops etc!! :-)

No digging
I wish I had been able to read this book when I was younger.Still I will follow its theme even though my age (81) may prevent me seeing its uses fulfilled.

Good book for an absolute beginner
I didn’t find this book as helpful as I thought it was going to be. I have been using the no-dig method of gardening for five years now, with good overall results, and would recommend it to anyone as a sustainable and healthy way of growing food. However, There is no real depth of discussion on the no-dig method itself in this book - although the first half of the book is devoted to this topic.I really like the author Charles Dowding and often watch his stuff on YouTube. But for me this book lacked direction and detail and is more suitable for an absolute beginner with an allotment and the desire to start gardening the way it should be done.

Revolutionised the way I grow!
This is a really great book packed full of knowledge and wisdom. I am not an experienced gardener but I purchased this book when I got an allotment at the start of the year and have had a lot of fun and success with the information I have learnt! Would definitely recommend to anyone interested in growing veg without breaking their back!

An excellent starting point to 'no dig' or organic gardening
Charles Dowding does good, clear explanations of why 'no dig' works in gardens and I generally adopt his approach here in my garden.
