Why did you pick this product vs others?:Had to adapt an old TV coax audio output to a new sound bar with only optical. This little guy was plug and play to solve this problem. As noted elsewhere in the comments, driving this adapter's power from the sound bar USB works well to avoid a permanent power on condition. Value for money:Seems like good value for the solution.

I could not get it to install on my tv. I tried several different ways to install using different cables. Only got static or no sound. Seller offered assistance but I opted to try a different product.

Worked for 6 mo. then developed some clicking. I contacted RFTECH (the seller) who quickly helped with troubleshooting. Ultimately replaced the unit without any hassle. Thanks RFTECH.

Product effectively bridges my 12+ year old tv with new soundbar. Included cables make connectivity and setup super easy. I recommend using your tv to power the device via usb so that the device is not constantly powered on while not in use, as the manufacturer warns to not leave device powered on when not in use. Take time to study what connections you’re trying to make to insure this is the actual device that provides desired connection chain. My older tv did not have a digital optical port onboard, but rather a digital out jack. I prefer 5.1 surround sound audio quality to get the full audio experience while watching shows and movies mixed in more than left and right channel audio spectrum. This device allows addition of greater clarity and detail to the audio perception as was intended. This device allows me to continue using older equipment (tv) with newer equipment (5.1 surround sound system) for a fraction of the cost! In other words, my older tv did tv is now compatible with my new surround sound system without costing an arm and a leg!

***Update again. Same recurring problem with the new unit. This works but not in the long term. I am going to try another brand. You get what you pay for. I'll spend more now and maybe have better luck.**Update to previously negative review. This company stands behind their product. Seller Customer service was very helpful and responsive. We got the unit working again. It is important to use the power supply that came with the unit and not another power supply, which turned out to be one of the problems I was having. The power supply of the original purchase was defective and this company sent a new unit even though out of the return window. I am very happy again with the quality of sound this unit produces. I highly recommend.Very easy to install and sound quality was excellent after I hooked smart tv up to stereo receiver. I have been using it for approximately 27 days, on a daily basis. Turned it on this AM and it worked just fine for about 1 hour and then sound level dropped so low I could barely hear anything. Turned up volume to max on receiver and the sound was very fuzzy and full of static. Basically not tolerable. Even though I had no problems for almost a month, and the setup had not been touched since the original install, I tried to tinker with the volume and audio controls on the TV. Nothing I did corrected the problem. Finally I turned everything off for 20 minutes and re-started. At that point the excellent sound quality I had before returned. Everything crystal clear and sharp again. This should not happen. I have started a return. I need something that works without constant tinkering for much longer than the time I got with this device. I don't recommend.

lots of clicks and pops, to the point where I'm concerned about my speakers being damaged. I tried swapping the power supply and cables and couldn't resolve the issue. I sent a message to the seller and I never received a response. I missed my return window hoping the clicks and pops would go away, but it remained. I'm now looking for another solution elsewhere.

The product worked great, except adapter cord that you need to plug in is extremely short and there is no on/off switch. Sound quality when used with my Korg Kronos was greatly improved from the normal analog cords. The problem is when I buy music equipment, it has always been built well and to last. This is not. I may have bumped it against a music stand or it may have fallen on the carpet from about 3 feet, I'm not sure. But I bought it in August and it stopped working in October and the return window closed in September. Since it is relatively inexpensive, it is not a great loss but I did this review to warn people to be very careful with it. I re-ordered it along with all the cords for hooking up my keyboard. By checking all the connections I found that all the original cords are still working and the original adapter with the very short cord is still working but the original unit is not working. I now have the new one sitting on top of a small towel now to prevent it from moving or getting bumped etc. I guess I will see if I caused it's demise or if this one also dies in two months. For those who want to hook up a keyboard to use it's digital out - I can only tell you how I hooked up the Korg Kronos - using Hosa OPM-315 from Sweetwater plugged one end into the SPDIF out and the other end into the SPDIF in on the Rooful and put the input switch to SPDIF. Then I plugged a 3 ft Coax cable from Amazon into the Coax out of the Rooful and then into the Coax input of my Scarlett Focusrite. I opened the settings on Focusrite Control and changed the sample rate to 48 kHz and clock source to SPDIF. You have to control the keyboard output volume using the Master slider, as the main keyboard volume is only for the analog outputs. If you use Logic, open the project settings - audio, and change the sample rate to 48 kHz as well.
