Most coffee cherries contain two seeds, and they each develop a flat side, but sometimes only one of the two seeds gets fertilized creating a round bean. This pea-shaped bean is known as a peaberry. This coffee originates from the Central/East African family that offers bright acidity and is aggressively flavorful. The "Peaberries" are hand sorted and sold separately. The peaberry is an unusual coffee that is known for its bright, and sharp character.

Shiney! - A very impressive bold dark peaberry.
We've tried a lot of the peaberry varieties available on Amazon and this one impressed our socks off! As a Tanzania peaberry, it has a brighter note to it than those from the Hawaiian islands, which tend to have a deeper, mellower aspect to them. However, this one arrived with visibly oily beans. Very oily - it is very obvious that these were packed directly from roasting. We grind pretty fine, we like strong coffee. This one is rich and creamy.Prices for peaberry coffee on Amazon fluctuate a lot. At less than $10 for 12 ounces of these shiney babies, it's a steal. We bought 5 more. Oink Oink.
