Update 7/20/19After several emails back and forth with the seller, asking for pictures of the mattress, tag and support structure, we were approved for a replacement. They did not ask for us to donate our old mattress in advance, which is much more convenient than anticipated. I am glad that they honored their warranty.They have changed the design of the mattress sine our original purchase, and the current design is superior to the old, with changed the warranty period to 25 years (longest I have ever heard!). They have made it thicker and it is now button-tufted for added comfort/ support. When i saw the “buttons” (kind of like small short flat sticks) at first, I was skeptical about its comfort. However, they are not noticeable at all when laying on the bed.In regards to the smell, it is a little earthy when you first take it out of the box. We removed the plastic and let it air on its side in another room for a day. I don’t really notice any smell now.Overall, the mattress is now much more comfortable than the original, and in my opinion, an even better value. It is a 5-star mattress with 1 star removed for the hassle of having to go through the warranty process.Update 5/20/2019After sleeping on the mattress for a year, the mattress showed sagging which measured about 3/4 of an inch. It’s been about 2.5 years now, and the sagging on both sides is 1.5 inches. I contacted the manufacturer and they asked for pictures. Looking at their FAQ page, it states that the you have to show proof that the mattress was donated or disposed of, before they send a replacement or a refund. For me, this would be inconvenient and would leave us without a bed in the master, while we were waiting the the replacement. I am disappointed that the warranty does not include pick up of the defective mattress when the replacement is delivered.Original reviewThe mattress arrived quickly and in good condition. We did not have any problem with the firmness, and thought it was comfortable support. My problem was with the mattress fibers/ stuffing. We let it air out for a week before putting in on the bed. Although my spouse did not notice any smell, the mattress did give me a stuffy nose every time I laid in it for about a month, even after changing out the mattress pad and sheets. So far a 5. It is very firm and we wanted firm since our old mattress had become ridiculously an painfully soft. With that said, we were surprised at HOW firm this mattress really was. It took about a week to get used to it, but I really am comfortable on it now. There is a slight smell at first and always if you put your nose right down to it, but I really like the smell. It is kind of a natural, almost hay smell and reminds me that I wanted organic, so I got it. It makes me feel good.

Amazing mattress, so happy with this purchase. Came vacuum sealed in a box, and unfolded into our room. Highly recommended.

I cannot rave about this mattress enough -- very comfortable, non-toxic materials I can feel good about (and I am very picky about everything I buy in terms of toxicity), and what a total STEAL! I had been searching for mattresses for ages, and I could not find anything I wanted for a price I could afford until I came across this one. No off-gassing, but there is a very faint, not-at-all-unpleasant, earthy smell to it. And it was delivered very fast, way before the promised time frame. Lastly, the mattress was not nearly as uncomfortably hard/firm as some of the reviews indicated. I actually wish I had not bought the expensive latex topper I already purchased elsewhere, because it really doesn't even need it. I was a little nervous about buying a mattress online, but I am SO happy with this purchase.

UPDATEAnother month has gone by. If I could rate this mattress a negative star I would. The smell is gradually lessening, or I am getting used to it. However, the bed is harder than ever. It is not possible to find a comfortable sleeping position. We toss and turn all night. In the morning my arm and hip from whichever side I managed to sleep on are sore and stiff. I have had to see the chiropractor just to get some relief from the pain. I haven't had issues sleeping like this in the past. Honestly, I am more comfortable on a blanket on the tile floor. It is just as hard as the bed but it isn't lumpy.In my opinion, I would say do not buy this. If you do, invest in a waterproof mattress barrier. That will defeat the goal of a non toxic bed because to be waterproof it will have to be plastic, but it will be worth it so that you can send the mattress back in 'perfect' condition. I wish I had done that. This is by far the worst mattress that I have ever slept on in my life and that includes futons, friends couches, and my old traditional mattress that was ten years old, any of those would be better than this.ORIGINAL REVIEWI searched for weeks before settling on this mattress. It was a housewarming gift from my mom and we were glad to have it. It has been a couple of months now and it still smells so strong that I can stand to have the windows and door closed. With the door open you can smell the mattress in the rest of the house. It is also hard. Not firm, hard. Also, already there are clearly two indents in the bed where we sleep. I can't imagine what shape it will be in after several months. I wanted to love this. Instead of looking forward to sleep I dread getting into it.Worst of all, I can't even try to return it since I spilled a cup of tea one night trying to get to sleep. If you are going to try this mattress get a serious mattress protector as it will have to be in pristine condition for a return consideration.
