Adventure Medical Kits Blister Medic (24ct)

I am a newbie hiker and a safety freak. I wanted to be fully prepared for any long trips that my body and feet are not prepared for so I ordered the blister kit. I searched multiple listing and stores to compare products and this is the best that I found. This is the most complete package and everything is precut. I included with my first aid kit more sheets of moleskin and a pair of scissors to round out the potential blister part of my first aid kit.

This blister kit leaves a little to be desired. The pieces come in various sizes, but can be difficult to handle. Further, we found that they didn't stick without using supplemental medical tape to hold them in place.

I went on a 1 week trip to Prague, Vienna, & Krakow walking at least 10 hours a day. Before my trip I bought a new pair of boots and tried to break them in. All went well until Krakow where I got pre-blister hot spots on both feet on my heels, toes, and ball of foot. Before the blisters formed, I used about 1/2 the pack of the moleskin pre-cut pieces and the problem was solved. Vacation saved. I will always have a fresh pack of them around. I think it is worth getting them pre-cut as although there is waste and more expense, I did not carry a pair of scissors with me so its really the only option.

I really wanted to love this product. Cutting up giant pieces of moleskin to just the right size and then trying to get them to say in place is always a giant pain when you're on the trail. I liked the idea of having a bunch of pre-cut stuff in a handy little package and people seem really excited about the "GlacierGel." But when I broke these out on the trail I was glad I still had my moleskin and Leuko tape on hand (seriously, if you haven't tried Leuko tape and you get blisters you need to buy some right now). The moleskin patches seem to be made of a special kind of moleskin that is much thinner and less substantial than standard moleskin. The first time I tried to apply one to a big toe it just kept peeling off every time I put on my sock. I like the idea of the "doughnut" shape where the center of the blister is left exposed. In practice however, the moleskin isn't thick enough to make this work. The GlacierGel was equally impossible to keep in one place, and didn't seem to add much if anything to the equation. All in all it seems like something that looks great on the shelf at the outdoor store, but if you're serious about blisters you need to build up your own kit.

Saved my feel from pain! If you aren't used to walking 10 miles a day and then you do on vacation it spells blisters and pain! These saved me from being miserable after I got nasty blisters in Europe this summer. I will buy again and pack these for every trip I take.
