I was a little unhappy when I first got this unit because I am so addicted to Aerogarden hydroponic units and this one is very different. But now I am very pleased. The pics I added are my Candy Cane peppers I have finally harvested. Tthey are doing very well in this unit (there are 10 more peppers currently growing) and it flowers prolifically.It is easier to clean than the AGs, by far. They hold more water and even though each plant pod is not watered individually like AGs, the water level is higher and oxygenated by the little T-shaped fountain inside the unit. The light height is perfect for bigger plants at nearly 20" which is the reason I purchased it. The deck has a bunch of small holes that I wasn't sure what were purposed for, but they are a a good use for placing poles (i use chop sticks) to help keep plants trellised in place.Now...the lights. Mars hydrogarden lights are superior, and at 45 watts are much better than similarly priced AG units with lower wattage. You can pay more for an AG unit with high wattage LEDs (40-50 watt). I still use the Aerogarden nutrients in this unit and they are a perfect feed for the plants I grow.All in all I would like to purchase another, but they aren't available right now. I can't say how good or bad the Mars Hydro customer service is because I haven't had to contact them at all, and that's a really good thing. There are a couple of things I would change If Mars ever designs another unit. I would like more options on the light timing, and would like less plant pod holes so plants could be spaced better. It would also be cool if they offered a trellis for this unit. I hope they become available again. I know there are sooooooo many different hydrogarden units in the market now, but Mars Hydro's unit is solid built, extremely useful and they are a reliable company.

It's very valuable and is needed and every home in the world. This is the best plant grower I have every used and I'm very excited to own one it has made growing vegetables indoor that much easier. It's very well built and It's made with durable plastic that will last for years and years to come. The led lights are also made to give yours plant a 100% full sun spectrum that will keep your plants very happy thru out it's grow life. the LED grow light is only 20w it comes with 19.5" retractable pole the tank holds up to 6 liters water tank which is made to hold even more water and food for your garden, it has two plant modes, Vegetable mode is suitable for non-flowering plants and plants in the vegetable growth stage, it has more blue light. and the other mode is the Flower & Fruit Modes mode is suitable for flowering plants and plants in the flower and fruit growth stage, it has more red light. There is also 5 dimmer plant modes and the lights do not get hot at all. it has 4 timing setting that's just right for vegging and flowering. The pump is quiet and comes on and off every 30 minutes. The pump mixes water and food well and creates enough oxygen. And it reminds you when to add water and food. And Mars-Hydro will warranty it with a 2 year guarantee.

TLDR:If you like to modify things, this is the grow system for you. There are several options, none available from the manufacturer, including the ability to add an air pump, external reservoir, and flood and drain.Good:The base is wide and deep.Setup is simpleMaximum plant size is 20”Easy to modBad:There is a lot of light in the reservoir.This has 1/3 the PPFD of AeroGarden. 177 to seedlings vs 691 in AeroGarden.This feels like a modder's dream. Nothing is built correctly. You can put drip lines in, trellis things, add bubbles. I do like the white finish, it makes cleaning the algae bloom easier. I don’t like the holes, it makes algae grow. I took a star off for that, but added one back because this is incredibly easy to turn into a miniature flood and drain table. You can even connect the pump to one of the holes and spray an unsuspecting passer by. It's really fun to play with.

I have quite a few hydroponic systems. So far this one seem to be top of the line in terms of build and function. It is sturdy, looks great, and I love that the bowl removes for easy cleaning. That is a function not found in many of the low cost systems. Of course the real test will be growing plants! Mars Hydro makes awesome, awesome lights, so I have no doubt this system will live up to its name!It came with everything needed to get started except seeds. And I love that the light goes up so high.Also, the pump is a t-sprinkler which is an awesome feature over some other units.I cannot wait to get some plants growing! I will update once I do. :)
