The Complete Guide to Middle-earth: The Definitive Guide to the World of J.R.R. Tolkien

I will be honest I had a copy of this book 30 years ago. Robert Foster lays out entries packed with great information. This hard cover edition is beautifully laid out and a step forward from my aging, yellowing paperback edition. The paintings by acclaimed artist Ted Naismith enhance the experience and enjoyment of this reference. It was good when I first bought a copy and it’s even better now.

Another beautiful edition to the new Harper Collins illustrated books that they have been releasing recently. This one has illustrations by the wonder Ted Nasmith who also recently illustrated The Silmarillion too. The text is easy to read and the books quality is superb, it has lovely thick paper and a sewn binding similar to the the recent Alan Lee LOTR Illustrated Boxset and The Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales.

Book arrived on time. On opening it I found it to be totally first rate quality, I am extremely pleased with this buy

Had the paperback. Essential to understand The Rings of Power and the howlers made. Timeframes alone make no sense (Rings if Power). This encyclopaedia of Tolkien’s work is invaluable. It’s quite frankly, accessible and definitive.

You'll find here an alphabetical index of (all) names of Middle Earth. Very useful to have around when you're reading a book like the Silmarillion, so dense with names.

I'm a big Tolkien fan and I am really like Ted Nasmiths illustrations. This is a real treat to anyone who also admires both.

Good book, but bad experience with the digitial edition

The book was well packaged, plastic sealed, and Minimal wear on the edges of the dust jacket. The pages are glued, there is a ribbon book marker, and full color illustrations throughout. Under the dust jacket is a light grey, cloth backing with gold/bronze foil letters. It makes a beautiful addition to my rapidly growing Tolkien collection.

This is a viable encyclopaedia with very good information. This book can help you a lot reading the silmarilion. And the quality is amazing , the book is sewn binding, the paper is thick with a great quality and the illustrations are gorgeous.

I have ordered this book as present for myself for Christmas. Today I have got it. And this is Dictionary, not guide....when you ordering Guide , you expecting maps, info about races und places...and this is simply dictionary....what I have to read here????? really disappointed and not recommending.. 79€ for the dictionary with good pictures...my most expencive and dissappointing book..
