It started off well enough... I was just happy that I could see the waves starting to stack up and march in my direction and even catch a few without taking any serious spills. I was on one of the best surf trips of my life in Costa Rica and had resorted to wearing my only pair of shades I brought to block the sun from bouncing off the Pacific and blocking my view of the incoming waves I was trying to catch.
