I wish I would have known
I bought this for our just barely 4 year old grandson for his first RC vehicle. When I was researching this, I read that the child only has to push one button to get it to move. That isn't completely true. To move the car to the side, the child has to push two buttons at the same time, which I think is a little difficult for a first RC vehicle. Had I known this, I would not have purchased this toy. Also all of the buttons are yellow. Each direction should be a different color to make it easier for the child to learn how to move the car. I guess quality is just gone for products for Americans now.American greed has moved almost all toy manufacturing to China and other countries and the companies don't seem to care about quality any more . I also try not to order anything from these 3rd party sellers on Amazon, but I screwed up this time. I would return this car if possible.

Broken right out of the box š
Broken! My son opened this for his 4th birthday. He was so excited! After putting batteries in both the truck & remote, it ran for less than 2 inches before it stopped. It made a noise a few more times when e tried to use it but didn't move. Then the noises stopped as well. Tried different batteries, no luck. This thing was a HUGE flop. Complete waste of money.

*ABSOLUTE GARBAGE* DO NOT BUY
After spending an hour to get this out of the packaging (you have to use a screw driver-it is screwed in) and getting the two different size batteries in the car and controls - the wheels turn left and right. That's it. Instructions say turn it off and turn it back on. Did that - nothing. Wheels go left and right. Instructions say take out batteries and put them in again. Did that. Now wheels turn left and right and it will move forward approximately a foot. That's it. Stupid piece of garbage. So glad we opened this and put in the batteries BEFORE we gave it to our grandson. How disappointed would he be? Little Tikes!!! What the heck???? Thanks for the Customer Service Number provided BTW - it traps you into voicemail prison. What happened to Little Tikes???? This is your warning. DO NOT BUY THIS.

Do Not Purchase
Buyers beware; this toy is not actually manufactured by Little Tikes. It is manufactured by āBetter Sourcingā, also known as āBetter Toyzā. After purchasing this toy for my sonās birthday, the remote control promptly stopped working within a few days. I did not realize it only had a 30 day āguaranteeā, if you can call it that. Amazon referred me to Little Tikes, who in turn referred me to Better Toyz, who in turn told me there was nothing they would do to replace or repair it. This is a terrible product, from a company with even worse customer service. Stay away from it. Amazon, please do your due diligence on the quality of products and 3rd party sellers you allow on your site. It reflects poorly on your otherwise good reputation.

DOA
Unfortunately the toy was dead on arrival. Not very impressed given the other other reviews for this product. Have commenced I returned to Amazon.

Defective
Truck worked for a couple minutes right out of box and then died. None of the troubleshooting tips worked, so we figured we received a defective one. Although the Little Tikes logo is on the toy, it seems to be distributed by a different company, who only offers a 30 day warranty, which starts the day you purchase. Amazon was amazing though, allowing us to send it back even though we were outside of the return window.

Great truck!
I don't usually write reviews, but wow! This product is better than I hoped! It's surprisingly decent, and seems to stand up well to a toddler's rough handling (at least so far, after a few weeks). The car feels sort of flimsy and light weight, but ultimately performs pretty well. I'd say it delivers on its promises, plus some!I *think* this is a newer product that the "better sourcing" car that most places like Toys R Us seem to carry. I found some documentation regarding the tech in the remote, and it seems to have been patented in late 2016 or early 2017. So I think this is the reason that no one else seems to carry this product quite yet. So... uh.... Thanks amazon! But yeah... terrific product. It has a super light weight plastic 4x4 "skin" over what is obviously the mechanical base of the unit. The whole thing weighs maybe 1-2 pounds. The wheels are decent rubber, as opposed to the plastic wheels that you find on most toddler cars. They sort of give the car a "suspension" effect when the car hits objects and bounces around. It's pretty cool. The remote feels cheap, but it works, and doesn't break when the toddler throws it. The control has two pairs of buttons, forward/back and left/right. It also has a flexible antenna. My son has repeatedly bent the antenna, pulled at it, and thrown the whole remote, and it is still working. It seems pretty fragile, but keeps kicking, so I can't complain. The toy takes several AAA batteries inside the remote, and several AA batteries inside the car. It's pretty easy to plunk in the batteries, as long as you have a small screw driver on hand. It should be possible to have the car out of the box and cruising around within just a few minutes. The front wheels are the ones that are geared to the engine. The back wheels really just spin. There is a cheap but effective alignment control for the front wheels. There is also an on-off switch for the truck on the bottom (but not one for the remote). The child needs to learn how to press both the forward/back and left/right controls at the same time to drive the car "properly." It takes a bit of practice, but a three year old should be able to play around until they figure it out. And this is actually one of the nice features of this car. The child can play around with it, without much fear of breaking anything. The car seems to take crashes surprisingly well (although I wouldn't necessarily advise jumping it off ramps and ledges, but flat surface crashes seem to be no problem).I got this car because my son had been playing with the v-tech remote control car, and he was becoming very comfortable moving forward and backward, so I figured it was time to graduate to the next level. I initially wanted the fisher price car with the 4-way control, but reviews seemed to indicate that the Fisher Price car broke fairly easily, and I furthermore noted that Fisher Price/Mattel had stopped producing it. Given the $70 price point on that vehicle, I decided to skip it and look for something else that would be suitable. This option was a no brainer. There are only two products currently available that offer 4-way movement for this age range. And this one is a pretty cool looking truck. Perfect for any toddler who is into trucks and RC videos. At this price point, you can't go wrong, even if the kid breaks a couple of them over the years.

Great on Carpets
This thing is awesome and fast! Got it for my three year old and he is still figuring out how to use the remote correctly because it has a switch for forward/reverse and another to the right for left/right, but he loves it! Great on carpet too which is where he plays the most. Takes three double A batteries for the truck and two triple A's for the remote.
