Into the trenches, 1914-18...
As the Sam Mendes movie "1917" hits the theaters, it is appropriate to look back at the uniforms of the British Army during the "Great War". This Osprey Men-at-Arms Series book offers a review of the organization of the British Army during World War I, along with its adapted field uniforms and personal equipment. The narrative is concise but informative. The authors have managed to work in a surprising amount of interesting details, such as the prescribed content of field packs. The text is nicely supplemented with period photographs and modern illustrations, including the standard and well-executed set of color plates. Well recommended to viewers of the movie who might be interested in more details.

Okay
The book is adequate. There are better and cheaper books on the same subject available. The illustrations are not up to the usual standard.
