The lid is heavy, perfect for giant dogs that absolutely love butter! Our dog Buster just loves Butter. He'll take bites out of sticks of butter on the counter. The heavy lid this has, keeps him out! Oh and my wife really likes the color!

I purchased this a second time as a gift. My girlfriend loved my butter dish so much. I was afraid she was gonna leave with it in her purse. She absolutely loves it.
