Not fair at all!
I feel like I have been had. I love this book and have enjoyed the series so much using my Kindle Unlimited account to read for free! Now I am anticipating the 4th book The Storm Sister and I find the rest of the books in the series are 13.99 each!!! Not fair to get readers hooked on a series and then up the price. All of your readers cannot afford to pay that amount for one book, especially seniors like me. Needless to say I wont be reading any more of this authors books no matter how good they are!!!

Compelling
The Shadow Sister: The Seven Sisters Book 3 is by Lucinda Riley. Riley continues her compelling story of six adopted sisters with the story of Star, the quiet sister. Her unique way of telling her stories keeps the reader interested in the stories. There are two stories told at the same time- Star’s present life and the past life of her ancestor. The path to finding out who her biological parents are involves a search of the past and the very interesting story of a past ancestor who flaunts tradition even then. What is different about this story is Star herself. She is always quiet and rarely speaks. To find herself in the middle of a boisterous group of people by herself, is something no one would expect from Star, even herself. Where will her quest lead her?Star had always lived in the shadow of her sister CeCe. CeCe would do the talking for both of them. She did her utmost to protect Star from everyone, even her own family. They were always together and even had their own sign language when they were little. When they grew up, they traveled together all over the world. Upon the death of their Father, CeCe decided to buy a condo in London and attend art school. She knew Star was tired of traveling and wanted to settle down, so she made it easy for her. What she didn’t take into consideration was what kind of home Star wanted and where. The condo fit CeCe’s style; but except for the kitchen, didn’t meet Star’s needs. The fact that CeCe had planned on them sleeping in the same bedroom still was a telling factor. Star needed her own space while CeCe still had nightmares and needed the assurance of Star’s presence. However, Star kept her own opinions and feelings to herself.Star had a clue to her own past that led her to Arthur Morston Books where she was to ask about Flora MacNichol. Finding the bookstore wasn’t a problem; but getting up the nerve to go in was a different story. When she finally did go in, the bookstore felt like home. It was packed with old and new books and smelled musty and bookish. It was dusty and no one was there, although there was a fire going. Finally, a man came down and just as she was getting ready to ask questions, her mobile rang. He apologized but no cell phones were allowed inside the store. Hurriedly, she left and went home. When she got home, she realized she had left her letter from her Father there and called back but there was no answer. The next day, she went back and found her papers. She managed to tell Orlando what she was looking for but when he heard the name Flora MacNichol, he became very evasive and went back upstairs but not before telling her of the connection between Flora and Beatrix Potter. She began looking at one of Potter’s books and he finally came back down. Finally, she was able to get his name and she ended up getting a job at the bookstore as well. She may not find any more about Flora; but at least she finally had a job.As she worked for Orlando, she began pulling away more and more from CeCe. When she went away for a weekend to visit Orlando’s sister and nephew, CeCe felt the distance becoming even farther apart and didn’t know what to do about it. Meanwhile, Star has a lovely visit at Orlando’s sister’s home and agrees to stay and help take care of Rory while Marguerite went on a business trip. She meets Orlando’s brother, Mouse, and begins to learn a little more about Flora. What is the connection between this family and Flora and Star?Riley keeps the reader glued to the book as she unravels the story of Flora MacNichol. She goes from the Lakes area of England to London to Biarritz with Royalty and back. Can Star unravel the story as the reader does?

Book 3 is just as good as 1 &2!
I’m truly loving this series. Lucinda Riley takes us to another country this time to explore history and piece together the past of Star, the third sister. So far, each character has been truly unique. It amazes me how she writes a new and interesting history for each girl. I’m enchanted!

Three’s the Charm! The best of the series so far!
I have read three now and The Shadow Sister has been my favorite so far. The review I gave for The Seven Sisters book 2 was harsh because up until now, the back stories that eventually lead to each sister’s original family have been long, drawn out, boring stories that were so difficult to get through. This back story was the most interesting and engaging story by far. There were times I couldn’t put the book down and I definitely could not say that about the previous 2 books! I loved the quirky family in this book, especially Orlando. The characters were well developed and the story had many twists that were perfectly unveiled in the story. I was very surprised I enjoyed this book so much because Star seemed liked such a boring character when first described in this book as well as in the other two. Just when I was contemplating giving up on the series, I read The Shadow Sister and I want to continue. I hope book 4 is just as good.

Amazing
I ABSOLUTELY love old England novels, and this modern take on a periode piece was extraordinary. What a wonderful written story. Could not put this one down.

Good, but not great
This, being the third in the series, was disappointing. Enjoyed, but found that I had to re-read occasionally chapters-I was confused. Maybe I was too tired to grasp.

Star
This was a wonderful story. I have read all Lucinda Riley's books except her latest one., Murder at Fleat House". I am re-reading them all again while recuperating from Ankle Fusion surgery. Mayia, Ally and Star's stories are like old friends. Pearl Sister is next.

Absolutely gripping, beautiful beautiful book!
I have read the first two sisters books before this one , both I absolutely loved and give 5 stars to each easily. I so looked forward to going back to each one, becoming completely absorbed in the characters and places, the history etc etc .... such a delight to be transported into their worlds, I completely forget all my worries and stress .... each book so far has been , when reading, my favourite, improving each time if it is possible to improve! .... The Shadow Sister is my favourite by far, if I could give it 10 stars I would ..... I don't want it ever to end! Love love love .... and look forward to getting back to, I'm finding myself thoroughly absorbed in the lives of the characters involved. Can not recommend highly enough ..... BUY IT!! These books have helped me get back to my reading again :) , after having been unwell for a few years and unable to focus and be still enough to for way too long , thankyou Lucinda! I adore Orlando by the way, and smile at his wonderful eccentricity! xxx

The best yet of the Seven Sisters series
I'm halfway through this novel and thoroughly enjoying it. It was a bit slow to start - probably because the author wanted to tie in the first two books in the series, which was not entirely necessary to such extent in my opinion, but forgivable. Once it picked up momentum, I got miraculously transported into a different dimension, which usually happens with every single Lucinda Riley book I read! It's not something I can explain, but it happens every time! Perhaps it's got to do with the way I identify with the leading characters and literally get swallowed up by their story, as if I was in it. I was also happy to discover that some of the characters in this book were historical, i.e. Mrs Keppel and her daughters. I always enjoy researching stories that have a real historical backdrop. I'm taking my time reading the second part of this book, making it last longer!

Amazing, beautiful, wholesome
The Shadow Sister by Lucinda RileyThis is the third installment in the Seven Sisters series. This book follows Star D’Aplièse as she embarks on her journey of discovery.I only finished The Shadow Sister this afternoon and I just had to share my thoughts immediately. If you haven't yet started to read this series, then please do 😊 they are just beautiful and so much research has gone into them they need to be read. Now I didn't think any of the books would top the love I had for the first one. Which was Maia's story. That one I fell in love with the locations and the start of the mystery of Pa Salt. The Shadow Sister has now firmly got a place in my heart. I loved everything about it 💗 The present day story of Star as she discovers who she is and steps out of her sisters shadow, I have to admit I'm using all my willpower to hold off rushing straight into CeCe's story 💪The historical part of Star's story is just wonderful. Very reminiscent of the classics I have read Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice. I love delving into the society of those times. And marvel at how lucky us women are in this day and age.As usual I found myself googling away at the characters as Riley blends fiction and fact together 😍 we get to learn about the past whilst being immersed into a beautiful narrative. The characters we come across in Stars story are fantastic. I loved each and every one of them for various reasons 🥰I could gush about this story all night long. But I believe its best if you read it for yourself 😊Have you read this series? 🌠

Amazing and wonderful read!
I thought this book was absolutely wonderful. I had just read 'The Storm Sister' which was also a tremendous read. I just cannot stop reading Lucinda Riley's Seven Sisters series, they are just totally amazing. The historical facts included are superb and as I am interested and have been to Troldhaugen in Norway where Grieg's museum is (The Storm Sister) it even made me play the piano again after many years and I immediately found my copy of Grieg's 'Peer Gynt'. I was so wrapped up in the story I even surprised myself that I could actually play 'Solveig's Song'. Likewise with 'The Shadow Sister' I found that equally fascinating as I also love the Lake District. The fact that Riley adds so much interesting historical information into her writing makes these books a totally engrossing read. Wonderful!

Weak in comparison to the first two books
I really enjoyed the first two books. They were a little syrupy romantic at times, but hey, it's what you need in depressing times so I went with it.I found Star to be the most enigmatic of the sisters so I was looking forward to reading her story. However, I found this book to be weak, and just a bit too fanciful. Sure the others were too, what with surprise ancestors etc, but this tipped me over the edge a bit with the cameos being thrown into the story here and there. The children referring to the King of England as 'Kingy' was a bit daft.I found the ease at which everything slid into place for Star a little beyond belief. She finds a beautiful quaint book shop in the center of London, and the owner can't wait to employ her (despite doing little business) and they share fancy restaurant lunches and 'cake at three' everyday. I can't see that happening in any London I know.I could also see the plot a mile off, so it felt like a bit of a chore to get through this book to get to the point that I knew was coming. That said, I will still read the rest of the books in the hope they pack a bit more punch, and wait patiently for number 7
