This guy is the real McCoy....do yourself a favor and read it!
This guy is the real deal...a been there, done that sort of man. Most authors have to get help from experts in this type of espionage thriller...but Simon has lived these experiences and writes from his first hand knowledge. From the first page he draws you in to this story. In only his second full-length book, he is becoming a master of this genre. He is able to tell 2 or 3 stories at the same time and then wrap them all together, like Tom Clancy showed the world how to do. I do most of my reading while working out on an elliptical machine for 90 minutes a day. Some books seem to drag on and make the time go so slowly, but others make the hour and a half zip by. This book is one of those which make the time fly by. The action is so fast paced but yet is quite readable without too much technical depth that some authors feel the need to share. Another great thing about him is that he answers all email and facebook comments and questions. If you want to know something he'll tell you. I sure hope that I can meet him for coffee some day, because I have some questions that you can't put in writing! I do recommend that you read his first book before you read this one. You will have a much better understanding of the characters and their relationships.

Great book, Simon Gervais is crushing it!!
I was lucky enough to have received an ARC from the author and enjoy this great read a little early. If you know Mike Walton from the Thin Black Line then you know about his past and his families tragedies. I was on the edge of my seat from the very first chapter with this one. The beginning scenes are nothing short of awesome and the build up to the final pages left me wanting nothing more. I normally don't post much in the realm of spoilers so if that is what you are looking for here, you are not going to get it from me. I literally was left not wanting more from this book, Mike and Lisa, Charles Mapother and the rest of the characters and been created thoroughly and thoughtfully, Simon has very detailed characters with a lot of background and history to leave you with the knowledge and understanding of their personal and emotional battles they face. There is a pretty steady pace that ramps up from time to time but was to me, never in a lull. That is one huge thing in a book that i look for and Simon Gervais crushed this one. If you haven't read The Thin Black Line, pick it up too. Mike and Lisa Walton are an awesome couple and are truly worth diving into.

(Another) Stand Out Thriller from Gervais
I have probably said this in a previous SG book review somewhere, but this author is clearly the real deal. Specifically in A Red Dotted Line, though, the writing tells me that he is a non-linear, tactical thinker who sees the whole picture like a good field commander. What makes this story sing is the fact that SG doesn't reveal too much of that full picture to the reader at any given point, sticking to his character view points and bringing it to us in twists and surprises. This great writing, fueled by experience, produces some of the best action on today's exceedingly crowded thriller shelves.

And the Israelis lend a hand.
If you like action, and lots of it, this is a guaranteed winner. #2 in the Mike Walton series after The Thin Black Line and the novella, A Long Gray line. Mike is a covert operative for one of those alphabet soup organisations (IMSI) that is secretly funded by the government so they can disavow any knowledge in case things go haywire. The Sheik is one nasty dude. He attempted the assassination of Mike's boss and kidnapped Mike's father a couple years ago. Now he is working with the Russian President to introduce a virus strain into the US. It is just too much action to put into a review and not have spoilers!

Great read
I really enjoyed these books. I bought and read the 3 book series over a couple of days. I liked the characters and the writing style. The story was very good. I'm a fan of this style of book- I love Vince Flynn, JT Robb, LT Ryan, Brad Taylor, Brad Thor, Marc Cameron, Mark Greaney, among others- and Simon is now added to the list. As others have mentioned he's been there, done that, and I enjoy his commentary at the end of the books explaining why his characters did what they did. I'm looking forward to the next one. It's also fun that you can visit with him on Facebook and he'll personally respond.

Add A Red Dotted Line to Your Keeper List
I received my copy of A Red Dotted Line on Saturday and finished reading it Sunday night. This was my first Simon Gervais novel, but it will not be my last. Mike Walton is a well developed protagonist who gets the job done, no matter what it takes. . He is strong, likable and multidimensional - in other words, he is a terrific character. If you love political thrillers and follow Dewey Andreas, Jack Reacher, Mitch Rapp, and others, add Mike Walton. You will not be disappointed. This book is a keeper. Well done, Simon Gervais!

Good but...
The books in this series are on the whole good. I intend to read all in the series. But there just seems to be something missing -- believability? lack of depth? I don't know. I just left with a feeling and never have when I finish a book in the Roland Innis series.

Has this really happened?
Simon Gervais is an amazing storyteller. With his knowledge, training, and experience, one could almost think he's telling a story of events that really happened. Of which he was party to. Realistic, smooth flowing, and never a dull moment -- I'm ready for the next Mike Walton book.

Non stop adrenaline!
I am a Brad Thor and Vince Flynn kind of guy because of the characters that come to life on the pages but when I read Simon's first book I knew I had to get the 2nd. I was not disappointed. Very fast paced from start to finish. I cant wait for your next book.
