Easy writing for shoulder/hand pain...love my Flairs!
I love Flair pens! I write with exclusively either these (which I would call "regular" Flairs) or Liquid Flairs every single day. I get severe shoulder and hand pain if I try to write with a ball point pen, and these require almost no pressure and little hand strength to write with. The tropical colors are nice -- know that about half of these colors won't be great probably to write with for "official" purposes, because they're too light or lower in contrast-- but they're excellent colors for drawings, emphasizing certain words, color coding, etc.I think the tips on these last a long time. If you press really hard, they'll get larger and probably won't last as long...but you don't need to press hard at all to write with these, so if you use them nicely, they should last at least as long as other pens, probably longer. Make sure to snap the caps on all the way. They are not permanent (they're not Sharpies), so you can't use them to write on plastic or magazine type paper, because they'll smear. They also don't smell bad like permanent markers, and they don't tend to bleed through paper (although they will a little bit, especially with thinner paper, like newspaper or phone book type paper). I would say you probably wouldn't want to plan to write fully on both sides of notebook paper with these, because you'll probably be able to see through to the other side. This doesn't bother me, because of the ease in writing with Flairs. They don't bleed through the paper that checks are made from, so they're fine to write checks with, they won't ruin the next check or anything.FYI, you can't press through to multiple carbon copies with Flairs (or any felt tip pens) -- you'd need a ball point pen for that. You'd damage the felt tip if you tried, and even then it wouldn't be hard enough to provide the pressure needed. I find that there are few instances nowadays when you are required to write on forms with carbon copies, so I don't think that's a big problem. (I have also just written on each of the carbon copy pages individually to avoid shoulder pain from ball point pens.)These usually wash out easily of clothing (assuming the clothing is washable and you don't wait too long or accidentally dry it before noticing the ink...though even then I usually can get it out with an overnight soak in detergent water). I wouldn't necessarily give them to little kids, though, unless they're wearing old clothes and stay away from upholstery! :-)Overall, I prefer the Liquid Flairs (aka Liquid Expresso), because they're even easier to write with than these Flairs -- but those are significantly more expensive, and they also take longer to dry, so they can be impractical when you're in a hurry (like with check writing). The Liquid Flairs can also be more prone to leaks, mostly caused by broken caps...these regular Flairs have caps that never break, in my experience. I keep both kinds in my purse, on my desk, and pretty much everywhere else I write!

10+ years of using these and I still LOVE them!
I saw that another reviewer is bothered by a quality change over the years but I have also been using these pens 10+ years and I still LOVE them. I have noted my observed changes in the product below.PEN CASING: The shaft and casing for the old set has a fluted barrel and a white holder for the felt tip. The new barrels are smooth with a clear holder for the felt tip. I thought I would dislike this change in texture at first, but I have not found it to affect my writing in any negative way and I still find them easy to hold onto. I actually really like the changes. I purchased the 16-pack with wallet case. I did not realize that "wallet" meant that it comes with its own reusable plastic holder. I have shown this in the images and I love this feature!TIP: The tip of my old set and new set are both medium thickness. The width is still very similar as you can see from the images.SATURATION: Since my old set is, well, old, you can see from the text I wrote that they are starting to dry out a bit (especially the olive one). But hey! 10+ years and I am so pleased that these have lasted this long! I am super happy with the new set. You can see from the image that they obviously makes a smoother and more saturated line than my old set. They feel smoother to write with as well. I am also a LEFTY, so pen smearing is an issue with graphite pencils, gel pens, and other types of inks that don't dry to the paper immediately. These pens provide no smearing and are colorfast to page as soon as I write with them.USAGE: I use them for note taking, calendar colorizing, old school letter writing, but mostly for drawing and creating custom typefaces for artwork and graphic design. Perhaps it just depends on what you need to use them for as to whether or not the change will bother you. For me, these pens are still my #1 brand. I have tried a number of other felt tip options and these are still the most awesome! If you found my review helpful, please give me a YES below!

Love Flair pens
I love flair pens and how they write and I was so excited to order these. The colors are OK, there are only a few that I will use all the time. The pink and coral are just too lite for my liking and I know I will use them but not as often as the blues.

Great colours.
I love papermate pens, they're so great to use. The colours are really bright and they last a good length of time. I like that you can use them as a normal pen for writing or you can use them for colouring.

Bright and Bold
Loved this. I do a lot of colour co-ordinated work on drawings and this works absolutely perfectly. Also works over corrective liquid

Very nice
I'm a teacher and always use the blue pens at work. I didn't know that these pens came in colours other than blue, black and red, so this was a good find.I am very happy with the purchase.
