The hose will SHRINK! My 40 feet hose shrinks to 30 feet when my Hayward Pump is set at Deep Clean. The vacuum negative pressure is so great that it sucks the hose about 10 feet shorter. If you have a variable speed pump, you can set the pump at a lower RPM for less shrinkage...but this will result in less suction/ cleaning power. Make sure you take the shrinkage into consideration before you buy a hose. Otherwise, the hose seems to be of good quality,If you never used a vacuum hose before, attach it to the vacuum head and lower it into the deep end of your pool. Then feed the hose in vertically into the water to get rid of the air in it. Then feed the hose into the hole located in the skimmer that leads to the pump (keep the hose under water at all times). Finally, set the pump to deep clean for maximum suction. (If too much air gets into your pump, the pump will lose its prime)

First let me remind you the swivel end should hooked to the vacuum head. If you try to hook it to the pump side it will leak and you will loose your vacuum. My previous hose would tend to collapse if there were any tight turns when I turned on my Hayward pump. The does shrink lengthwise when the pump kicks on but I took that into account when I ordered it. I bought the 30' hose for my 18' pool and it gives me plenty of extra to maneuver. As for performance this hose does a great job. It won't try to collapse even on very tight turns. If it ever fails I will certainly purchase another.

The hose seems to be of good quality. My only complaint about quality is that it does want to curl up a bit instead of laying out straight. On another note, I was surprised when I tried to hookup my Kreepy Krauly to my poolside vacuum intake. This hose is 1.5" I.D. in size BUT both connections are FEMALE! Pardon me for being a homeowner and not a pool professional, but I've only seen hoses that had a male end and a female end. Every hose I've ever had was male/female design. My vacuum intake on the inside of the pool is female - how can I connect this hose to it??? Guess I'll now have to spend more $ at the local pool supply to pick up an adapter (which should have come with the hose). BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU ORDER!!!EDIT OCTOBER 2018: I've had the hose in the pool over a year now and it's working out fine. I notice that the description has been changed to say that it's NOT for automatic pool cleaners (like mine!). But it is better than the flimsy sectioned hoses that come with the automatic cleaners.

High quality vacuum hose with a swivel head for the vacuum attachment. This is much better quality than I could buy at my local pool store. Plus, the price was cheaper. Excellent quality.

I have a 16'x32'x5' pool and bought the 40" hose to make sure I could reach the furthest end/depth of the pool. There is plenty of extra length. This is by far the best vacuum hose I've ever bought. It works perfectly. Doesn't kink or stay coiled up. The right amount of flexibility. Well made and good quality. Looks like it will last. So glad I ignored the negative ratings. I haven't had a single problem with it. I definitely recomend it.

Great hose fixed my suction loss issue. I have 15 psi normal and 12 psi now with vacuum hose attached. Clean the pool floor now in no time. It is a little stiff and wants to roll up but I’m ok with that. Better than having a cheap thin hose that leaks and does not last. Just use the swivel end on the bush/cleaner end and the fixed end to the skimmer. I expect this hose will last several seasons quality made hose.

I initially tried to go less expensive and got the Poolmaster 33430 1-1/2 x 30' Heavy Duty In-Ground Pool Vacuum Hose w/Swivel Cuff, but found that the cuff leaked air. Other reviewers had said the same thing...so I ended up returning it and getting this one instead. So far so good, works great and the swivel cuff is fantastic with our manual vacuum.Will update the review over time...

I ordered this hose at the very end of our pool season in 2017. I never opened it as we had closed the pool by the time it arrived. When I did finally open it in May of 2018, it was useless as right at the swivel cuff end there's a crack right where the hose attaches to the cuff. I didn't bother to attempt to return it as it was in the water and we kept attaching the two ends to either the vac head or the adapter to see what was causing the air leak. Turned out it's the swivel end cuff and my only option is to use it as a backwash hose.
