THIS DESIGNER PILLOW is made with a mixture of ALL VINTAGE textiles -- * scrumptious green Scandinavian woven linen table runner * entrancing rustic tea towel with a red stripe * tantalizing red quality linen * captivating red hand embroidery on snowy white linen * enchanting handworked needlepoint Santa * bewitching "Victorian Ladies" barkcloth * striking handmade ivory doily * charming ivory and green hand crocheted lace. HOW WAS THAT for a slew of "alluring" words! Didn't want you to get bored reading that long list of vintage materials. ON THE BARKCLOTH, the "Victorian Ladies" are off to deliver a hot Christmas meal to the neighbors -- always the generous givers. The Barkcloth "Ladies" were originally part of a vintage table cloth found at a small antique shop. The handmade ivory doily obviously depicts a snowflake in this Christmas winter fabric creation. The red striped tea towel in upper left corner is a flat weave. Tea towels are said to have originated in 18th century England, where the lady of the house would use them to dry fine china and delicate tea sets. Jobs that were considered too important to trust to clumsy servants. By the 19th and early 20th century, the tea towel would likely to have been striped or checkered, in order to be decorative, as well as utilitarian. On the pillow's back is a nubby vintage red linen and charming 1930s "snowflake" glass buttons.
